i'm wondering if I should keep my 250 and continue to upgrade and put parts on it or save up money for another quad. I'm planning to look for a 400 or so. I think it is starting to feel a little small on me and doesn't get enough power to get over the jumps at my local track. What is your thoughts on it?

In my opinion you should save up fora 400, Your options are limited when it comes to getting more speed out of a 250. Plus the shocks and so fourth are pretty much for trails. O own and race a Z-400 and cannot complain at all with just the stock set up it came with. I also own a 250ex and they are nice dependable quads that are good for the trails.

This is a question only you can ultimately answer.
Are your riding skills ready for a bigger quad?
Can you afford a bigger quad?
What do you want from your quad?
If you keep it and continue to make improvements you will a have a unique 250ex that is modified to the extent you can afford. In the end however, it will still be a small quad with a small powerplant. It is inherently limited by the engine and the shaft drive in the amount of top speed and grunt you will get for your investment.
If you are actually racing it in the proper class. it WILL be competitive. Just ask m.h.s.c.#527.
If you are trying to keep up with bigger quads, it just cannot.
Is is a fun quad? For most of us it is. Would most of us enjoy a bigger quad as much or more? Without a doubt.

i have a 200 400ex with NO problems. it is about maintenance. take care of the bike and it will be reliable. why are they lean? is this because the added exhuasts and filters without CORRECTLY rejetting the carb? then that is user error, not the bikes fault

my view is that the 250ex is for beginning riders and should be used as learning/experience gaining tool only. like said before, it can be competitive in the right class.

you need to remember that this is just a fancied up utility quad and essentially performs like one, especially in stock form. the performance from something like a 400ex will make the 250ex seem pale in comparison. instead of spending money on something that won't get you very far, put it towards something that will severely outperform the 250ex
