The newer z-400s have the gas shocks with rezzies. With a little grinding and so on, would these be a good upgrade?
They're alot cheaper than 450r shocks also, i saw a pair go for $100 on ebay. I figured since they are cheaper, and look almost like a 450r shock, but more ment for a 400, it would be an upgrade.

Also, what about 250r front shocks, they're dirt cheap also, but they look like the 400ex shocks, so i dont think they're different.

Give me your opinion on both of these.

also look for KFX400 and DVX400 front take-offs. yes the 250r front shocks will work as well.

im pretty shore the ltz shocks wont fit on a 400ex cuz the bottem of the shocks are diffenrt but the 250R shocks will work

well the z400 shock if you can get it to cleanly fit i think will be a great upgrade cause from dirtwheels or on this website they are supposed to be the best stock tuned shocks in the buisness so they should be even better then the 450 shocks for the 400. just my 2 cents

ok, so with some machining, the z-400s should work?
I might do that.
And also, i know 250r shocks will work, im asking if there is a difference, because they look like the stock 400 fronts

im going to say that the 250r shocks are probably the excact same shock because hondas idea with the 400ex from what i know as of now was the make a 4 stroke version of the 250r thats why alot of parts are the same or correspond with eachother.

i have used z-400 shocks on my 250r as it would fit the ex400 but the z-400 shock is a little longer and the shock will bottom out to early

250r shocks are shorter than 400ex shocks.I forget by how much. I know they work

YFZ 450 shocks are great on a 400ex...must machine about half an inch off of the thickness on the top mount of shock but after that they bolt right up and will lower the front ride height and provide a much smoother suspension

im trying to find cheap shocks for it, yfz and 450r shocks are wayyyyy to expensive. For $100 more than a pair of those, i could pick up some works shocks.
I seen z-400 shocks go for about $100. And they are supposed to be great according to dirtwheels and other test magazines.
