hi
i have a Ohlins rear shock who originally came of a yfz450. its my friend i bough them from, and he checked a catalog and it says it fits 450r`s. but it does not tell what link you can use, neither does my friend know it.

the shock is longer than the 450r rear shock. the Ohlins shock is about 48 cm`s long, eye to eye, or mounting hole to mounting hole. thats about 18.8 inch. its what i got from this conversion:
http://www.onlineconversion.com/length_common.htm

check out this picture:

does this shock actually fit the 450r ?
if it does. what kind of link do i need ?

im looking for a link that is made for mx riding.-

i have a 06-07 gt thunder link (i have a 05 450r). i tried to install the shock and the link together on the 450r, and if i want it to fit, i need to push the shock together/squeeze the shock so the mounting hole fits on the link where the holes is. its quite hard to push that shock in to make it fit.

please help me on this one!
if it does not fit i need to give the shock back to my friend, while i have the chance.
please let me know
hoping for some answers!
thanks guys!

If that shock really is 18.8 inches long, its longer then any 450r shock I've ever seen :P

It deff won't work with ur GTT link tho, the GTT is a standard travel link. That ohlin is like extra long travel :P

Hopefully someone on here knows a manufacture that makes a link for a 18.5" shock.
I've seen 18" rear PEP shocks, so it shouldn't be that hard.

Even if do find a link for it tho, chances are the shock will have to be revalved and resprung. To go from a YFZ to a 450r with different riders and not need a rework would be a marical IMO. lol

well i was looking at http://www.ohlins.com/ and i searched shocks for 450r`s.
the length of the only rear shock they offer for the 450r was at 377mm length.
(2005 450r)

check it out here:
http://www.ohlins.com/ATV/Hidden/Recommendationlist/tabid/116/Default.aspx

when i was searching for shocks for the yfz 450, the only rear shock they had was at a
length of 464mm (2004 yfz450)
i think this is the shock i have.

check it out here:
http://www.ohlins.com/ATV/Hidden/Recommendationlist/tabid/116/Default.aspx

so, it looks like the shock i have does not fit the 450r i have =/

That won't fit the 450r no matter what link you use the longest shock you can fit on a 450r with a 2 piece link is 16.5"

The Elka pro dual link uses a 17" if I'm not misinformed.
