I ride a 400 ex and am thinking about trading it for a banshee, but want to know if the banshee is smaller physically. I know ones a 350cc and the other 400, but size difference. I am 6ft. 215 pds. and my 400ex scoots and am wondering if the banshee will look to small.

Thanks
in advance

yeah, what the banshee is smaller physically? My 400ex size is stock no extenders or widening kit. The Banshee has +6" swingarm and is lowered with a 3" widening kit.

shees are nice but you should stick with the 400ex

why is that? the Shee is modded alot. Will it outrun my 400ex? and is it a better climber and better in the dunes?

i couldnt tell ya never had em side by side but i would say the 400ex is higher but the shee may be slightly wider

Yes, its a little smaller. It will probably feel a bit more tippy to you. From ground up, id say the shee is more low then the 400..Honestly for your riding condition id stick with the 400ex and work on getting new suspension and lower it plus make the back axle wider, you'd be better off unless you of course are more of a dune rider/drag racer, if you do anything other then that, stick with the 400ex..but thats my opnion.

The banshee will be a lot different for you it will more and likely beat you unless youve done a lot of stuff to your 400. It will feel a lot different to ride and with a +6 your not gonna be able to jump very good and it will be mainly just for draging

i personally do not like banshee's because of the sound and most people think they are the end all be all in the quad world. i would say ride one around and see if you like it. and if someone is wanting to trade you a bansee for your 400ex that should tell you right there which one is better

i have a 400ex, my dad has a banshee

The 400 is definetly better for trails, but, the banshee is SWEET!

My dads banshee is piped, jetted, has a boost bottle, shaved heads, and reeds. The bike was set up by yamaha themselves, and it runs spot-on.

He changed the stock 14 tooth front to a 12, and it is just fine for trails. 1st is low enough to crawl around with, and yet it still manages to do 70mph.

The banshee i think feels less tippy, and has a lower center of gravity, and the fact u can hit the throttle and spin it around turns. Plus, the seat is alot cushier.

Powerwise, if its in good running condition, you will be amazed with the power. The sudden ruch of the twin is unlike anything i have ever ridden before, and they are KING OF THE HILL. My dad weighs around 300lbs, but still manages to bring him up huge hills, even when it was tired. compared the the 400, its COMPLETELY faster.

If you can, i recomend getting the shee, the 400 is great, but banshee is so much more fun. People say they arent trailable, but thats not true at all. If you lower the gearing to a 12 up front, its fine. Just when you get to the rocks, slow down, its not like the 400 where it floats over em. unless you're completely pinned so the front floats over it.

A couple things to look out for:
1. Listen to it run, and do a compression check if possible. People tend to abuse banshees, therefore tiring them out, and running like crap.
2. Make sure its running on both cylinders by feeling the exhaust, and make sure its jetted properly if it has pipes.
3. Get rid of the +6 swinger!! Get a stocker, or +2.

Hope i helped

depending on what you are riding....like said above....dunes or hillclimbs..that sorta stuff the banshee is better...and if its widened...it will feel wider than your 400.....and that +6 swinger will make it really hard to ride trailers if you do that at alll......but banshee will deff. be faster...and sound soo much cooler =p hehe

depends on the ridin you like best. if you like drag racing and the dunes get the banshee, if you like track and trails keep the ex. they are both really close in stock form.

400ex does the same stuff as the banshee but the shee is more aimed twards those specific things. you will sacrifice fuel consumption for immediate power. but its all gonna be dependant on what you like doing more.... racing, or going for a ride all day.

Wow, from what im reading, thats will be a 80+hp rocketship!
From reading this, its built purely for drag. Unless you plan to put more money in to make it trailable, you cant do trails with that thing.. and it needs an aftermarket fuel tank, and lower gearing. But other than that, if it runs good, go ahead
Unless you

that banshee might be fun for oh.. 10 minutes of going in a straight line. thats all you're going to be doing with that thing. throw some nerfs and/or heel guards on that 426 and you're set for whatever type of riding youd like to do! the ex also looks very well taken care of and is much cleaner than the banshee.

love the 426!!

after seeing the pictures, this is what i think.

Get the banshee.
Put a stock or +2 swinger
get rid of the front lowering kit
get some headlights

That motor if you dont already know, is 80+hp assuming it has the big-bore and stroker. With the stock stuff put back on so its trailable suspension-wise, put a 12-tooth front sproket on, and you wont be upset.

And btw: nice clean looking 400ex, i like it, but i hate those turf-tamers!

Thanks for all who replied.

I might go ahead with the trade my 400ex for his banshee raise it up some and change the gearing.

Hondamaster.

Cant I just leave the custom swingarm and raise the rear suspension? also I will raise the front. And other than that I am going to change the drag exhaust tips with FMF powercores.

JOEX

If the Banshee is really 80+ hp you'll probably want to keep that swingarm on there...

if you leave the custom swingarm, it wont be trailable at all, and like you said, get rid of that front lowering kit, lol.
The rear doesnt really look lowered, just extended.

And JOEX:
Believe me, unless your on pavement, you dont need it. My dads is only 55hp, and it just spins spins spins. Yet somehow it still pulls past his buddies 50hp yfz450 like its nothing. With the stocker, you can rip that baby around everywhere!
JUST BEWARE OF PAVEMENT lmao. On pavement with 80+hp, you'll need the extended. And im almost positive its putting out at least that. Ive seen some 125hp+ banshee on stock bore,(they also blow they're motor in a matter of 3-4 rides, lol) but his is just a basic big-bore stroker, so im estimating about 80hp.
