ok, the reasion i ask is, i just bought one,

and im wondering how often i need to change out my piston and rings and such,

before i bought the bike i heard 40 hours, i read 15 in the manual, i know it can go longer, but whats a reasionable amount of time before changing that stuff out?

i know if i go to long ill start damaging other components.
all the work to replace the piston, rings and such i dont mind.
i just wanna know a good timeframe for doing it.

well, considering the bike is pure race, ment for experts only, im willing to bet it means 15 hours of hardcore use, before theres a noticeable loss in power i guess, ive never felt that much power, mostly out at the desert, all togeather ill be pretty easy on this bike, plus i cant see all the people who own the bikes changing them that often, not even close. i just want to actually hear people say how often they do it who own the bikes, and how hard they are on there engine and bike ,i havent been out to the desert in a while. i cant wait.

my cousin has one and we kinda wondered the same thing, but we figured it up, 15hrs may not seem like alot but the track I race on, thats a whole season of racing and some practicing.

I have heard the 2 stroke race bikes go only 10 hrs b4 needing re-ringing.

15hrs may not seem like alot but when you have a hiperformance engine thats tuned to specs you should do maintence on it reguraly.

BTW the topend comes down with just 14 nuts and bolts, lets see you yammy freaks do that.

brand new out of the box 450s use oil Ive heard..thats one **** of a motor...so you should expect to maintain it as often as need be..
