Would what i have on my ex right now work for mx racing? id be racing D6. do most of the guys have 450s? would a 416 be able to keep up? im trying to decide if id rather race xc or mx. id rather do mx, but i dont really wanna start right now if im gonna have to buy a 450 and put 3g into it.

what you have looks fine. if ur skids are real heavy duty you might want to take em off for weight. look at my setup. i love it for mx. i am a fairly good rider and keeping up with 450's are no prob.

yea i need to take the skid plates off, theie kinda big. i also need to get a killswitch, right? will a stock axle, and aarms hold up on the track?

yeah skid plates can really weigh you down. for gncc or trail they are great but for mx since there isnt any unsuspected logs or rocks and everything is flat you dont need them

you dont have to have them but i suggest em. i found a nice set of chrome a arms (+2) and chrome axcaliber axle (+2) for 500. best thing i ever did. now i need shocks =/ mx racing takes more rider over machine. i ahve graduated from the 400 class i like to say. i only race 450's cuz they are the only 1's eho give me a run for my money.

i raced my 400 with only a pipe, nerfs, bars, tether, tires and an axle and i was finishing around middle of the pack. instead of widening your front end, all i did was flipped my tires inside out and raced that way. its just as good as having a-arms but a lot, lot cheaper. haha. i would put the money for the a-arms inot the suspension myself cuz with just the stock ones it gives you a wicked pounding.

is flipping the rims going to cause long term damage??

i ran my rims flipped around for maybe a full season of racing and all that happened was bent a couple of tie rods. but after doing that twice i got some thicker, stronger ones and it didnt happen again. for tires i ran 18x10x9 rear mxr6's and 20x6x10 front mxr6's. i also ran some 19" front tires for the last half the season. depends what you want.

dang 19" fronts are so tiny!
