Would you guys know if I can fit an xr650 motor in a 400ex. If I can what modifications would I need to do.

IT CAN BE DONE. i dont know every little detail but i have heard you have to remove the head to get it in there

you have to have the street legal "L" motor. or the other one is too tall.

Ive seen an ex with an xr motor before, but the one I saw had a kickstarter? I guess it can be done. I just dont know how.

my friends neighbor has a banshee with a honda cbr900 motor stuffed in it:D :macho he had to cut and re-weld the frame so he could get it in there, but the guy is rich, so he had it professionally done:huh musta cost alot

and i think you need to make new motor mounts, stuff like that are really big projects:(

it can be done. my cousin did it and it dynoed 85hp and a top speed of 105. it was sooooo fast. and ohmygod the torque was awesome. to bad he sold it. i was pissed cause i didn't get to buy it.

i believe the engines put out around the same horsies, if you want an engine get a crf, but if your not gonna race dont bother;)

crf450 and xr650 puts out the same hp, the crf i think puts out more torque. But the xr is a smother power band and alot more reliable

Have you considered the CR500 engine? It's much smaller and would fit in the EX chassis much better.

The power will make you see in Technicolor!!

The xr 650 engines arnt very nice engines, your best bet would be the Crf 450 but they both are going to tear the **** out of your stock frame. It will probably work for awhile but then you are going to have to go aftermarket.

from what i hear the crf450r motor is for racing only. on trails and other places the tend to get hot. just my info

yeah the 450 engine is almost as bad as a two stroke for maintaince, so i'm told. an who ever said that the 450 has more torque....um i'm pretty sure there is no replacement for displacement when it comes to torque, but i could be wrong. the XR engine would be the best thing you could get for 4 stroke desert racing. if you wanna go 2 stroke CR500....drool.... eh yeah
