05 450r 1/8 mile drag setup

only have alba racing pipe on it now.
want to set it up for 1/8 drag races.
still have stock gearing.
wut should i do with the sprockets?
i need new tires anyway should i drop a size?
stage 1 or 2 hotcams.
gimme some ideas on how to set this bike up.

Light as possible rear tires
drop 1 or 2 teeth on front sprockets 1 for 18 2 for 20s
hot cam 2
and skys the limit after that.

Two things you need, a lot more power, and then the traction to get it moving forward. This would include extensive motor mods, a good suspension setup, and a great set of tires.

Lets start with how much are you looking to spend, and will this be a dedicated drag bike? Pavement only? Sand and pavement? More info please!

yeah make it a really fast one through the motor, and put some steep gearing on there, so you dont light the tires up. and what 400exrider707 said

i was planning on getting the head done with the hc stage 2
just sand racing. trying to stay stock bore.
only tryin to spend like $700.
as u all know the 450r launchs real hard and has great bottom end power i think im looking for a mid range to top end cam.
only problem i have is wheeling when i launch

Lower your suspension. Front and Back. You gotta be careful in lowering though, make sure you have enough clearance and make sure you still have weight transfer or you will not get traction. Also I would look into a pair marvin shaw shocks. But that would make make you dedicated to drag racing.

i just want ot to be that quad that no one can beat back in the pitts

gear it down some if your running 20"tires...14/39 or so

and send me your head......and i'll do it 4 free just to show what i can do

if you don't want to chnage shocks just strap the front end down and that'll help keep your frontend on the ground on take off

whatever you do dont send your head to junkyard buck unless your interested in buying yourself a new head to replace the one he'll screw up... even if its for free it wont be after you have to buy another head...

his idea of porting is taking his dremel and 'chainsawing' away the valve guides flat into the port... I'M DEAD SERIOUS HERE!!! I could easily post pictures for proof.... no bash just the truth...


Do yourself a favor and stay clear from junkyard buck.....

this is a graph of what a real builder with a flowbench can provide.... most builders have flowbenches... junkyard buck is not a builder,... he is an assembler of used parts.... he has no porting tools except a dremel and no flowbench to validate any flow....

at least find a preferred porter whom can validate and PROVE your flowrates rather than guess like buck will do on your head....
