Man!!!! 10 ROUNDS!!!! of Youth racing thus far in 2007, not to mention the many local races these young riders attend. Who would have thought just a few short years ago that a few of us begging to add them back to the series would lead to one of the most exciting races of the day!

Ofcourse the rain that fell overnight would not get a chance to dry at all with an 8 am start time.

I don't think mother nature had quite made up her mind on what type of conditions she felt like levying on the young riders:p

With a wet race ahead, all the young riders were geared up and itching to go. keeping these small machines waterproof can be quite the challenge

Canan Summerfield made the switch to a Cobra a few rounds ago, and once he gets it all dialed in, look out!

Showing how close knit these racers and families are, Austin Findley gets protected from the rain via the assistance of Kyle Rileys mom. #1 reason I dig the kids...they just want to race and nothing else! For them it is all about the competition and friendships.

Kyle Riley gets his pop to handle the umbrella and discuss some pre-race plans.

Before long, it was time to get this shindig started and the starter was counting down the seconds

Dylan Bradford came charging around the first turn with Kyle Riley following close behind

Caleb Edwards grabbed the holeshot and was off and running! Caleb finished 3rd in the 90 Limited 11-15 class at Mountain Ridge and looked to be well on his way to another great race!

Brayden Shick #39 looked like a mini pro as he railed turn one, with Charlie Welch #44 already setting his sights on him!

By the time I trekked to a spot to head them all off, I believe Bradford, Mumford and Riley had already skated by me. Joshua Merrit was flying as he zipped down a fire road

Make no mistake, just because they are youth riders on mini quads doesn't mean you can lollygag when crossing the track. These kids haul the mail!

Riley was running great, and the leaders were just ahead of him as they were off for another lap

the rain had subsided, but the slick mud remained. Mumford sends roost flying as he taps out his Cobra making up ground

Charlie Welch has his hands full fending off the hard charging Cobra riders, but round after round he gets the job done!

The courses that are laid out for these young riders vary with difficulty, but most of the time, even the smallest of riders can get through them.

Ryan Earley has finished 1st or 2nd at every round this season, however some stiff competition had him finish this day in 3rd (90 Limited 8-10)

Micheal Spalding hasn't had the success of others by switching to the Cobra, but I am sure he will get everything working to his liking soon enough.

Josh Merritt rolls to the checkers taking the overall at Unadilla!

Pappy

Merritt was able to fend off the charge made by Mumford, who rallied in for 2nd, with Bradford rounding out the top 3.

The mud did not help me much when it came to identifying riders, but I would like to personally congratulate Allie Slate on her class win in 70 CVT..GREAT RIDE ALLIE!
