why would you build up a 300ex? sell it and get something better...

TC Racing. I used all his stuff in my old 250X, cam, big bore kit, etc. and it hauled.....for a 250X.
Depending on your age, I'd recommend saving your money and buying something better. It takes quite a bit of cash to make a 300EX competitive unless your running it in a class that is taylored to small bore air-cooled machines.

i would go with either tc or sparks also just do alittle investigative work. maybe call them up or go to their website. ask question and find out which one will make more useable reliable power. ive heard nothing but good things about either

i forgot you should also see if baldwin will do a 300ex motor im not sure that they do but its worth a shot

I had my sons 300ex done by Dee Manshack (Natalies builder/mechanic). I think its www.rageatvracing.com or google it. The thing ripped and was very reliable, much better pricing as well. Tell em' Daniel from ATVskills.com sent ya! (No, I don't get paid to say that:D )

We ended up running the ISD2 from Supertrapp. You can't beat the price and I believe its the only full ISD2 system you can get (for the 300ex) because of the solid stock pipe, all the others are slip ons. It comes as two pieces and is tunable, very nice, strong pipe at a great price.

For a fully built 300ex motor up to 330cc I'd go with the Sparks X-4. 350cc may want the X-5.

Most aftermarket pipes are built for a stock motor w/ maybe a cam and filter. The sparks works best on a built motor.

Supertrapp TC, Yoshi, and HMF w/ a header are also good choices, but I've always been partial to the Sparks pipe. The craftsmanship is amazing.

Oh, by the way...we had the Supertrapp on when it was a 300 and then we also used that pipe when we built it to a 330. The 330 was fully built, ported, etc and it would run with 400ex with pipe/piston and cam. My son was the only "300" in his class, all the other kids were running 400's cuz they up'd the cc's in the class. Anyway, if you'd like to know what we actually did to that motor and how we set up the oil cooler, let me know. Cheers, Daniel www.atvskills.com

I'd go with the pipe the engine builder recommends. Quality builders with a proven track record like Sparks, TC, & Baldwin typically build their motors to work with the components they use - ie there cams, pipes, head mods, etc.
Just as info, some people find TC a little difficult to speak with but he tells you what he knows and what he feels works best. No BS. In my dealings with him, I never got the impression he was trying to sell me something I didn't necessarily need. I'm now using a TC cam, piston, and CDI on my 450R. Do some research. TC has helped several people win national championships on 4 strokes over the years including two for Doug Gust (granted one of these was on a 2-stroke).
Any reputable engine builder will do a good job. I would follow their recommendations as closely as possible. You don't have to do everything at once either even though it is nice. I'd try not to mix and match - Sparks pipe w/ TC cam w/ Rage headwork, etc.

what are the limitations for the classes in your area (ie. motor size) cause i know around here all quads except mini's ride together whether it be a blaster or a yfz450 or a raptor 700. they only have a b c +30 and +40. but at the nationals they have a class for 300cc 4 stroke and 200cc 2 stroke. just something else to consider when building a motor whether your going to keep it 300cc or go with a bigger bore and stroke

200/300 cc 2 stroke 4 stroke

ok so that limits you to not going with a 330 or 350 kit so i take it your gonna want a high compression piston cam port work and maybe some valves and springs. get together what all you want and take the list and call some of the different engine builders. they should be able to give you a price on their work not including replacing worn parts that might be in there that you arnt planning on replacing. then you always got things like the headgasket etc. they are all good builders(the ones i named) and have built a reputation over the years for building good pro class bikes and know what there doing. they havent been in the quad business for as long as they have and not know what they are doing

Agree.. most builders have a setup that they tuned for w/ a specific intake and exhaust for max performance.
