i am looking to get new tires for my quad...

i bought it with after market rims and tires (tires smaller than stock) from a guy who mostly did track or riding on a dirt surface... but where i ride is all rocky and i bottom out alot and destroy my rims everytime i go out...
i am thinking of getting bigger tires..

what is the stock size?
what woud be a good size tire for my siutation?
where to get tires?
woudl this even help my situation?

thanks in advance...

20" razr 2 and irazrd are very popular. i suggest getting the irazrs. 20" is the stock height.

I happen to think that Rocky Mountain is the best place to buy tires as well.

Stock 400EX comes with 22" front and 20" rear tires with a 10" wheel in front and 9" in the rear.

For rocky type riding, I'd suggest the Kenda Klaw XC's or possibly the ITP GNCC's or HD's. I'm not a big Maxxis fan so I don't personally suggest the Razr tires. Also, the iRazr's (as mentioned above) wear out really quickly.

Also, you said that you're bottoming out everywhere as in your shocks or your ride height? If you have aftermarket suspension, look into adjusting the ride height and compression/rebound settings or possibly having them revalved/rebuilt. Otherwise, if you just don't have enough clearance, larger tires will help a lot.

i ride alot of trails and what not and i had the same situation with my quad i bought it with 18x11x8 rims and tires so i went with holeshot 20x11x10 its a bigger tire and i did sprocket work to get it back to stock gearing and it is an awesome set up for rocks trails and etc...

04TRX400EX - the suspesnion is stock. maybe its a bit soft but i dont think so.. i am not bottoming out because of the suspension but mostly cause my ride hight is low due to the tires i am runing. Currently i am running kenda klaws and they do just fine grip wise but since they are smallr in size it is causing me to bottom out. first time i went out i ripped off my stock skid plates. (immidiatly i got some after marekt steel ones and they have been doing a good job protecting) i ride with a guy who runs a stock yamaha 700 and his tires are 21 and 20 and he does not bottomout as hard as i do... nor does he bend his rims :(

ill look at rocky mountin atv for some tires..
thanks everyone

Stock rear tires are 20". If you are a big trail rider than 22" tires might be a better option. I trail ride with 20" Kenda XC Klaws tires and bottom out the swing arm skidplate often.
I have to agree with the others. www.rockymountainatv.com is the best place to buy tires. There prices are low and free shipping on orders over $99.00.

There are also 21" XC rear tires on the market now that would be a good alternative to the 22's...may save you from having to change the gearing and still offer a little extra clearance.

rockymountain or C&D will have about the best pricing.

Definately! They have tire and wheel packages that are not on the website. I get their catalog and I haven't seen any lower prices. All my friends and I get most of our parts there because of the service and price. You will not be disappointed. Besides, the beat any deal (price+shipping) so there's no going wrong there.
