I have a 1986 trx 250r 3 years ago I installed a desert tank bought it used and dont know who the maufacturer is. My problem is when I go to glamis I hit the small bumps in the dunes and fuel leaks from the gas cap. Now doI have tried my gas cap from my 1985 atc 250r and same result tank is not warped my thought is I need a specific gas cap for that tank model anybody else had this type of problem.

Try plumbers tape on the threads of the tank if nothing else works out. I would think if it screws on fine you have the right cap. Also maybe the rubber seal in the cap itself is dry rotted?

If you can post a pic of the tank. Maybe someone can tell you what one it is from looks.

cant use a stock cap on my clark tank, you have to use a cap from clark. different thread pattern.
