Hi all this is my first post and I must say this is a great site lots of info. First my bike is a 85 Honda 250R three wheeler I ride mostley in the sand(Glamis-Mexico-Bowie). I am looking to rebuild my motor, I know I want a 310 kit but undecided on witch one is the best as far as price and performance. I have read on this site that ESR porting sucks and LRD is the beter way to go. I am leaning towards that kit but just want to make sure. Also does anybody have any other sugestions on what to do with the motor while it is apart. Thanks for the help.....

As an owner of a 250r trike, get a lrd ported 310pv, paul turner hi-rev pipe, 39 pwk carb, 86-98 cr250 rad valve, 1/2 reed spacer and you might want to advance the timing some. It will have more power than you know what to do with. I got their 310pv and had to immediatey get a +1 swingarm, as it was un-ridable with the stock swinger. I ride mine on mx and now have 14/36 gearing w/ 18" tires and its too much motor half the time. You want to make sure when you order your motor kit, that your spark plug is angled like stock, most of them, the spark plug comes straight out the center of the head and is really hard to get to, or you have grind a notch into the frame brace above the head. Since you have an 85 frame, the situation is worse, the frame brace is really thick, I had to grind mine is order to get the spark plug boot on. On the 86 frame, they made them thinner, so you don't have to grind it.

For the crank bearings, only use oem bearings, you want the ones that have 8 balls in them(I think 88 or 89). As to advance the timing, you are gonna use race gas in this motor, right???? You can get a cr250r ignition and esr backer plate, or hinson and Ct sells a counter balance holder that allows you to adavnce/retard the igniton 6 degrees in each direction.

Just ordered the PT high rev pipe and muffler, looking for the cr250 rad valve and carb. thinking of esr for carb but dont know? And do I have to advance the timing I really can't afford the kit to do that right now. I just hope the LRD kit is not to bad! Does anybody know about how much they are? Thanks guys

I paid something like $2300 for my 310pv, you want a 38 a/s or 39 pwk, esr is good place for those carbs and a great price too. If you get the 310pv from lrd, you will want to get the carb from them too, they will jet it really close to what you need. You can get the cr250 rad valve from just about anywhere, you will need a 1/2 reed spacer to use it, as the the boot is somewhat shorter, also the angle is alittle different than the trx/atc setup.

$2300 is over priced for a 310 pv. I have a 265 pv that I would sell you alot cheaper and will more than likely run right with the 310 pv. Let me know if you are interested
