2006 450ER problems?

Are there any problems with the 2006 450ER? I found 1 at a really good price and was wondering if they where having problems with them and maybe that was the reason it's so cheap. The only problem the guy said he has had with it was the chain came off and cracked the cases but he had it professionaly welded and it never leaks a drop of oil. He said he has had all the recalls done on it expect the lastest one something with the starter or flywheel or something like that.

I have one bought it in Sept of 05 and have not had one problem with it, i race it 1 to 2 times a month and it runs great starts perfect, other people have had problems and say they are junk but i would disagree with them. Also have a 07er and have had no problem with it either.

the only problems i heard of were the starter and the front end is "twitchy"

My dad has an '06 450R with the HRC kit in it. No problems just doesn't handle as well as the '04-05s. Front end pushes bad when turning

How bad is the front ends? Also whats wrong with the startors?

it wasnt the starter itself it was the kickback redouction gear on the starter it was calibrated wrong on some models i got mine fixed and it seemed like it started smoother well just sounded smoother when i started it and i think it was on electric start model only im not sure though

The recall is for the reduction gear, what some people like to try to do is give it gas when starting a ER, when doing this if it doesn't start and back fire the motor can kick back causing damage to the gear or taking the teeth off of the gear entirely, the kicker bikes will kick back also but those break side cases instead of gears, if you know how to start it right your not going to have any problems with either one.

They changed the spindles on the '06 & up 450R's. I forget what they did to them but it sucks. My dad has good tires on the front too, When you turn and hit the gas, instead of turning precisely the front end slides off track into the rhubarb almost hitting trees!:eek2:

This front end stuff is kinda scaring me i want a quad that is going to handel extremely well don't one that is going to take me all over the track or all over the trails.

when I switched from the 250r to the 06 450r I thought it handled like a bull dozer (It did push hard through the corners)

as soon as I learned to use more body language and to swing the rear around better I sold the 250r

the starter gear is the main problem with the 06+
turn up the idle and dont touch the gas when starting and your golden
