stock woods suspension

well i have a kfx450r with stock suspension, and i am wanting to set it up for woods riding with a little bit of jumping. dont quote me on this but i think i have comp, rebound, and preload on both front and back. so whats the best way to go about this.

Best thing to do is talk to some of the people who revalve them. C&D on this site revalve. You can also check with Derisi or GT Thunder. There are so many people that revalve suspension anymore that you just have to find someone you like and go with them. If the kfx is anything like the 450r then it will make it a big difference after having them redone.

well i have definately thought about that, but my wife isnt going to let me spend that much money right after buying it. i was wanting to get the best setup i could with what i got then after they start to wear then i would look into something along those lines

I would personally lower your springs on the front as low as they go, then lower the rear to match. slow the compression and go a little fast on the rebound, kinda play with it til it feels the best, you want it to take hard hits but not be rough to wear you down.

by lowering the springs do you mean lowering the ride height or stiffening up the spring? thanks for the help

gotcha, does it really hurt you to bad on the ride height. i have some trails where there are some pretty big rocks and stuff and i dont have skids. i know that i am wanting alot for a little, but my wife isnt going to just say go out and spend a couple hundred on skids.

You just spent 6800 on a new atv, with an aluminum frame. Step up to your wife and spend a few hundred to protect your frame and motor. Its worth it. Losen the spring rings(preload adjustment) that are above the shock spring a little to lower the ride height then while on the atv in a ridding position have someone measure the distance from the ground to the frame in two spots. One spot right under the foot peg and the other just behind the the a-arms. Keep the front a little higher than the back, about 1/4-1/2" higher. THen adjust the comp and rebound to your liking.

LOL, I had to take on a 2nd job to get my suspension parts and hipers. My brother has the kfx450 and he raced motocross and XC with it, he just have adjust the comp and rebound a bit. It has good stock shocks. Good luck

i did lower it down, but i was bottoming out. i figure next time i go out i will really try to dial it in. thanks for the info guys it helped out alot.
