I installed a 01 raptor shock today, it went pretty smooth. The shock is about 3/4" shorter, other than that its sweet.

The 250 does good in the sand. For my 13 year old daughter the power is fine. I have taken it out a couple of times and I could ride it, but I would go around the bigger dunes,
The shock was easy to install, I just added one washer and it was good to go

Are the mounting bolts the same diameter as stock?
How is the ride stiffness for your daughter?

The shock is about the same as stock, but not as springy. The stock shock is like a pogo stick. In the long run I will get a lighter spring.

Is the raptor shock a good upgrade from stock, do u feel the difference?

The Craptor shockis a better shock, adjustable, preload, comp, and rebound. Its worth it.

The difference is the rezzie. 2001 has a remote rezzie, 2002+ has it built into the shock. The 2002+ doesn't fit into the upper mount because of the rezzie.

Based on what Dune Surfer has told me, the shock itself can be adjusted for a softer/stiffer ride, it is the spring rate that makes it end up feeling stiffer than stock.
But remember that it is the shock (hence its name) that actually absorbs the impacts. At slower speeds you will feel the spring more.

Sorry about the delay, been playing in Glamis. (love that place)
The shock is adjustable, that said it is not much softer than stock. The big advantage is it works better. The stock shock is like a pogo stick coming off a bump. The Raptor shock is a much higher quality shock.

Comp adjustment is on the ressy and rebound is on the bottom, preload is adjusted on the springs.
