tommorow in shop were taking the topend off my friends klx 110 and putting in cams, a piston, clutch and ignition.

since its fine, and he just wants more power meaning there arent any problems and the sleeve should be fine, we dont have to hone the cylinder when putting in the new piston right?

i am still kinda new at this, but i think if it has cross hatching still you will be fine, but if you have nothing there or barely noticable cross hatching i would rehone it.

p.s. i also take tech/shop class.

i just finished putting a 134 kit in mine tonight with a tb race cam...just hone it no matter what, if it has cross hatch then only hone it lightly.

When ever the rings are replaced the cylinder needs to be honed so the rings seat to the cylinder.

Bingo. The only reason I'm replying with the same is so you can hear it from multiple sources.

As a general rule, you should always use new rings and hone the cylinder whenever you put it back together. Many times the same piston can be used, but it should still get new rings and a hone.
