will a new clutch cable loosen up my clutch a little bit?

Tough to say... If your old cable was gunked up/worn out, then of course yes! :D It's worth a shot, you will know right away if your old cable was done.

Seeing that you have a 400ex I would expect the cable is the culprit. They are notorious for clutch cables getting stiff because the cable routes between the headpipes. The heat causes them to dryout and melt. This causes a stiff cable.

As cheap as cables are, I would go ahead and put one on. If it doesn't fix the problem, you might have to dig into the clutch itself. Do you have heavy duty clutch springs? They will make the pull stiffer.

cool. thanks guys. as far as i knoe EVERYTHING inside the motor is stock...i bought it used and still today, three years later, im still finding that i have more aftermarket stuff than i thought.
