If you are into off-roading, the Toyota Tacoma or Tundra with the TRD package is the best on the market. It comes with Bilstein Shocks all around and a standard rear locker.

Those 33's may bogger down the motor...they do have alot of torque though. My grandparents have 2 4x4 V6's and a Tundra. Good trucks to say the least, although im not a Toy fan.

bornonfire thats your taco? fug man...that thing rules. the only thing that could make a taco better is a straight axel, you definatly know whats up man. how hard was it to switch it over? i really wanna do it to my 86 (first year with ifs, other than 85.5) but i might just sell it and get an older one. anyhow yotas rule! goes almost anywhere a jeep can and still has a bed, how can you complian about that? oh wait i forgot the old FJ40 cruisers, those will out wheel a jeep any day of the week hehe. yotas are king. but 1968-1973 chevy full size 4x4s are probably the nicest looking imo.

I have had bad luck with trucks lately....I saw a 93 Chevy 1500 x-tended cab 4x4 for $3950
a few weeks ago and I was going down there to buy it and they just sold it a few hours before, then yesterday I was going to buy a 88 Yota 4x4 w/ a 8000 lb. warn winch and mud tires on it, talked to the the day before and he said nobody else had called well I called yesterday to come get it and he said he just sold it about 3 hours ago.

- Whats the difference between a golf ball and a ford.- You can drive a golf ball more than 200 yards. - I could never keep a ford under me i was always under the ford.

- Speed kills, drive a ford and live forever.

- Ford means First on race day, beacuse its still there from the last race day.

- Did you know that ford trucks now have magnetized bumpers. Well they needed something to pick up all the parts that fell off along the way.

- Ford, at least they circle their problem.

I guess I should have put this in my last reply but the reason I don't like Toyota's is because my neighbor had one that only lasted about 100,000 miles, and he babied it, while our Chevy was running as good as the day we got in after 150,000 miles, and we sure as h#ll didn't baby it. My dad's old 1979 Dodge Power Wagon (how many of them do you see) was still running strong when we sold it a month ago.

Just because your neighbor's Toyota lasted 100,00 miles you decide that you don't like them? Go on to Kelly Blue Book and punch in the same year Chevy and Toyota Truck with equal miles and options. See which one is worth more. Oh, but Toyota's suck.......

Ok how about this, I just don't like Toyota's, they don't look to be all that tough looking to me, in my eyes when I see that my neighbor babies his Toyota and it completely breaks after 100,000 miles, oh and the problems started way before that, and then we have our Chevy which has been through h#ll and back for 150,000 miles and still runs great, it kinda tells me something. There arent to many things the Toyota is superior in that would make me want to buy one.

Quadracer5
11-11-2002, 04:47 PM
As far as I know dodge and cummins aren't splitting up. And my trucks doing great, its a '94 4X4 with the 5-speed. The automatics behind the cummins won't last, stock ones anyways. But my NV4500 is doing great!! I seriously doubt dodge and cummins will ever split. IMO Dodge just released their new HD trucks with a new(to pickup trucks) Cummins diesel, so they are not parted for sure! I've never heard of a problem with the frames either, not around here anyways. And we do some pretty heavy hauling and such. Anyways.

Dodges are the best thing that has ever happened to planet Earth!! I have drove Dodges for my last 3 vehicles(I have had many!) and I havent had a problem! Except my wifes 2001 Dodge 4x4 the transmission was having problems, thats the only thing wrong with the Dodges were the transmission in the 4x4's, but if im not mistaken Dodge has changed Transmissions with the new body styles! The price of the Dodges is best!! I paid $21,000 for my 02 Dodge 4 door Lonestar Edition Ram, fully loaded with towing package and towing gears!!! The sweet looking body style, very roomy interior, and price puts Dodge well ahead of any other in my book!!!

well truthfully, toyota is the best wheelin truck around.Besides jeeps and hummers.( i had two jeeps and they rock)

But, if you ever look around on the highway youll notice there
are more FORD pick ups and vans then any other manufacturer in the U.S.A.

THAT IS A FACT!

the F series is the number one selling truck in the U.S.A.

I have a beat up 1990 F 250 that just goes and goes and goes.

I do have to say that I have the HArdcore 351w (5.8 liter) in my truck and that is the best small block truck motor ever built.(im not to keen on the new tritons)

Im sellin my truck for a e series van.......(I just realized you can fit two quads and a motorcycle in a e series van)

Notice I didnt knock any other manufacturer

chad i usually agree with you on everything and im not trying to say if u have a dodge ur an idiot or anything but in most of the peoples opinions around here are not... fond of dodge vehicles past 1990 or so at all... but i must say the viper is an exception to their quality and the way i look at it the only reason the are so much cheaper is because you pay for repairs and equal the same amount int the long run...
not trying to flame just yet again stating my opinion...

11-12-2002, 10:06 AM
I understand exactly what your saying, but I think it has to do with peoples luck too!! Like I said Ive owned quite a few Dodges and I havent had to pay for any repairs(I usually dont keep them past the warranty anyway so it dont matter) My wifes 4x4 had the transmission problem but we got rid of it because she wanted a Grand AM GT. The transmissions in the 4x4's are the only Dodge problems Ive ever had or even heard of! On the other hand I have owned 3 Fords and will NEVER own another Ford, it may just be my luck but Fords arent for me!! I bought a brand new f-150 a few years ago, and needles to say it was a lemon, after 5 times to the shop it was the lemon law and they had to take it back!!! Well I decided to give Ford another chance because my wife wanted and Explorer,,,,the day we bought it we came out of the store and it wouldnt start!! A new battery and altenator later it was running again,,,then the a\c went out, fixed it, then it went out again! I finally got rid of it! A little bit later I bought me a old Ford(was going to use it as a 4 wheeling truck) it was a 75 model 390 big block, ran great and was kept in perfect condition, well before I even got it in my driveway it blew a seal and poured oil all over my wifes car following me,,,well needles to say there will never be a Ford in my driveway again,,,besides my friends when he has it running!!! But like I say, there are pople out there who swear by Ford, maybe its just luck!!!

I love my Z - it's a beast and will go just about anywhere.....it's a 94 stepside, though...they don't make em like that anymore! I'm thinking about buying a crate engine through JEG'S this year - my stock engine has over 135,000 miles on it and it's feeling kind of tired. I can tell you one thing - I've had it in some nasty places and have never gotten it stuck! :D

No offence but that picture just makes me laugh... could somebody please explain the ponit oh having a jacked up truck with 44's (not sure) and still having a stock v-6 engine sure mabye it has a super charger but how many parts do you have to break to get it through the bog ?

bigbadbrad
01-24-2003, 01:29 PM
actualy the supercharged v-6s for toyota put out more power and torque then a v-8 tundra with headers and exauhast.

That guy's Tacoma has a TRD Super Charger and Intake/exhaust mods. That 3.4 Liter V6 puts out over 300HP. Believe it.
The fact that the truck has the Stock Rear Locker will take even the stock Tacoma more places than Any of the American Big Three! No B.S. Off-Road wise. the Tacomas Rule.
Add the TRD Supercharger and you have a truck that will beat a lot of v8's. Crazy stuff man. Wish I could afford one for mine......

1. It doesnt have a "Dodge" emblem.
2. Althought it is a 4x4, it sits low like a 2x4.
3. The instrumentation looks cheap and it is loaded, leather, On-Star, power everything.
4. It is a sissy dog, all bark and no bite. Yes it has the 285 HP, 5.3 liter.
5. The sound system sucks. DELCO? Dodges have INFINITY.
6. It is dirty. I know, I could wash it but I hate it so much I wont waste my time.
7. It has a "Chevrolet" emblem on it.

Hemi will be here in two weeks. 16 spark plugs, 345 HP, 4x4, extended cab, leather, infinity sound system, 20" chrome clad rims, sport package, black on black, heated seats, dual climate control, curtain side airbags, paid for CASH... Nuff said.

I wanted the Hemi, but couldn't swing it finacially. I wanted a truck though. And I am happy with it....Beats the crap out of a 4cy Jeep Wrangler...lol Good luck with the Dodge, I would like to see some pics when you get it.

Sorry man. I just realized that I am kind of saying that your trucks sucks. I tend to be an ***** even though I dont mean to. I went to a strip club the other day with some of my customers and when we returned, I was telling everyone (about 35 people that all of the chicks there were ugly. Then I looked at this guy that works for me and I said "There is this one chick there that looks just like your wife. They could be twins." And everyone started laughing. I didnt get it, but apparently the guy thought I was saying his wife is ugly.

I am heading to Las Vegas on business on the 31st of Jan. and wont be back until Feb. 9th. But the truck should be in my garage by the time I get home. I will post some pics in a few weeks.

Ford for trucks,

CHevy for cars.

I don't care for any Dodge. This new gen. Ram is a big improvement. If you go dodge you gotta get the top of the line. If you get something like a Dakota or Darange they are bad, transmissions are the worst, and the power is lacking.

Toyota would be my second favorite for trucks.
Chevy third.

I had a Durango R/T. Nice truck but the rear end leaked from day one. I sold it on Ebay last year. I though Chevy was the answer... It wasnt. If I didnt need the bed for my quad, I would have me a H2.

Man, I can't believe this is even a topic. My Chevy has never let me down before...even though it acts like a woman (no offense ladies!) sometimes. What else can I say, You want 'the heartbeat of America' or Found On Road Dead? Chevys and Hondas till I die.

I just recently bought me a Toyota 4x4 w/ 38.5 Super Swampers, Webber carb, headers, cam, and Rancho suspension, not for sure how much lift but it's over 9" for sure.

Chevrolet is my 1st choice for a truck, especially for 3/4 or 1 ton but you can beat a Yota in the mud.
