2007 WORCS-Rnd. 8-Bull Hollow Raceway-Monticello,Utah Amatuer Race Coverage

Round 8 of the WORCS series was held in Monticello, Utah . Monticello, is neighbor to the ever so popular Moab, Utah which is know for its scenic Byways, including Off-Road riding,rock climbing,river rafting ,hiking, and bike riding.
The senery is breath taking and quite amazing to see,especially at sunset.

Bull Hollow Raceway has a reputation in the WORCS series for being a mudfest, but this year would prove to be quite the opposite with nothing but sunny skies,beeezy conditons and temps in the low 80's .
In spite of the weather, rider numbers were down significantly ,with numbers at approx. 350 entries.

The track consisted of Clay that blue grooved up nicely threwout the week ends racing.
This was a longer course at approx. 7.5 miles as well as a higher altitude at 7000 ft. As a result,would prove to effect many riders endurance and riders felt they tired more quickly.

The course consisited of varyng changes from tunnel jumps,to fast MX sections as well as fast open trail sections,Tabletops,elevation changes,rock,whoops and doubles.

Friday practice was cut short as my camera has some malfuntions, but I managed to get a few shots in .
Practice consists of only the MX on Friday practice days.

First race of the Amatuer race coverage kicks off with the Production classes in race 3.
16 riders were on the line.
#1a Justin Waters gets out front in lap one with a 10 second lead followed by Dillon Zimmerman in 2nd.

# 49 Dillon Zimmerman would cling to the 2nd postion the enitre race ,but in the final lap it would be Waters who would hold the #1 in Production A,Zimmerman in the #2 slot.

Team Money$hot rider, #249 Mike Kelley holds a solid 3rd threwout the entire race filling the #3 on the podium in Prod. A.

#116 Keith Johnson would also follow suit and hold a solid 4th to the final lap.

#61 Dax Snow wraps it up in 5th .

In the Production B class,#159 Dale Mininger would hold the #1 in lap 1.

#372 Devin Carter puts the heat on in lap 2 and takes over the lead and doesnt look back ,taking the #1 in Prod. B.

#514 John Rickerd quickly moves up from 5th place in lap 1,to 2nd place in lap 2 taking the #2 on the podium in Prod. B.

#800 Daniel Grodsky makes an impressive leap from the 10th position in lap 1, to the final spot on the podium with only 3 seconds separating him from the 2nd place finisher!

#3286 Garth Frandsen moves up from 6th position, to 4th place in the final lap.

#717 Zach Hanes falls from the #3 position in lap one, to settling for 5th place in Prod. B.

Stock A rider,#99 Cameron Beck held 1st place until mid race, fell back one position ,but quickly regained it in the final lap for the #1 in stock A.

#150 Gilbert Flores grabs the 2nd position in lap 1,at mid race held 1st place for two laps, but would have to settle for the #2 on the podium in the Stock A .

#214 Barry Bennett moves up from the #4 in lap one ,two a solid 3rd place .
Bennett would also have the fastest lap time in lap 2 in the Stock A class.

#43 Thomas Reck ran solo in the Utility class.

Race 5 kicks off the Womens A class.
#130 Julie Russell is on fire this year and seems to have recovered nicely from last years injuries!! Temmecula Motorsports riders had quite a awesome wk. end!
Russell gets out front in lap 1 and holds it to the checker for the #1 on the podium.
Russell also held the fastest lap time in lap 2.

#902 Christy McGuffin also proves to be on fire this year .These girls get faster each round I see them.
Mcguffin would hold a solid 2nd place for the entire race .

#894 Amy Horst would fill the #3 on the podium .

#1001 Mario Mainini Preston,Idaho moves up from the 4th position in lap three to 3rd.

In the sport C 15-29 class, #517 Blane Vadasy moves up from he #2 in lap one ,to leading the pack to the checker .
Vadasy also had the fastest lap time in lap 3.

#118 Robert Temple would fall back from the #1 slot to a respectable 2nd in Sport C.

#363 Brandon Saliego would move up from 4th place in lap 1, to filling the #3 on the podium ,followed by #127 Caleb Casebier in 4th in the Sport C class.

30+C #335 Craig Wagnecht moves up at mid pack from 2nd position to the #1.
Wagnecht also had the fastest lap time in the final lap.

Brian Harris falls back from the #1 position in lap 2, to a 2nd place finish in the 30+ C class.

#104 Sean Ross hoeld 4th position until mid pack,gains one position to filling the #3 in the 30+C class.

#180 Myron Whitehorse moved up from the 4th position in lap one to the #2 finishing up 10 seconds behind Waters for the Open A class.

#256 Rob Brown checks out in lap one and remains consistant to the finish .

#3467 Max Niederhauser starts the race in 3rd in lap one and gains one position and fills the #2 in Open B .

#139 Darren Kelley in the #5 position in lap 1 moves up 2 positions in the final lap filling the #3 on the podium for the Open B class.

The final Amatuer races on Sat. in race 7 was Womens C class.
C class rider,#227 Rebecca Hosking.Hosking also held the fastest lap time in lap 3.

Stambaugh leads the entire race to the #1 in the Rhino class.

#517 Blane Vadasy reaches for the sky and never looks back !

Vadasy would get out front in lap one and stay there to the check with also the fastest lap time in lap 2.

There was abit of tension in the pits after this race .Apparently this race there was a time mix up and was lessened by approx. 15 minutes,so about 1 lap shorter for the 30+B class.

So there you have it ... All the Wk. ends hightlights of the Amatuer racing in Monticello, Utah! I wish I could have brought you better photos this round, :( Ill remain hopeful for the next round as there shoud be alot less dust and hoping my camera works better by then.
