i had a meltdown on a brand new piston and bore with only 5 hours, i just did a leak down test and i have a leak at the exhaust flange where it bolts to the cylinder-do you guys think this is where my lean condition came from? just to add its a fresh bottom end build also.

how bad was it leaking. if only a little, i dont think it would cause a total meltdown but could cause inconsistancies in tuning

i pulled the fly wheel to see if i had an air leak coming from crank seal and nothing-when i pulled the motor i had no coolant in the system?

its very possible that its the head gasket. which cylinder are you using?

then it must be a head gasket then.

just noticed that ya added a mod list to your sig............
and i see where you've got a cool head. is it the o-ringed head or the gasket type?
there are various issues that can develope with the seal of the cool head if certain steps or precautions arent taken/addressed.

No way.
When your exhaust is hooked up, the exhaust flange is just a straight-through hole anyways. If it was pushing or pulling any pressure, it wouldn't do it through a little crack at the bolts, it would do it through the big gaping hole of the pipe.
