part of my group headed up to Coral Pink in Utah over labor day... it wasnt the same as the imperial dunes, but it beats sitting around doing nothing in Phoenix, and took the edge off a bit...

here is a shot of the crew parked in the shade resting...

this one is my rockin' my buddies rhino... that thing is bad! with my bike not running the best cuz of the altitude, and the fact that it was more trail type riding, i think i had more fun on this than on my bike... it was a lot of fun to have to pick your line and see where you could make it up- it was a challenge! like back in the day when you couldnt just look at any dune and go up however you wanted.

none of these jumps pics are anything special by any means... the jumps werent that big, and with my bike jetted for 7k feet lower and 20 degrees cooler, 3rd was the highest gear suitable for hitting them...

just approaching a jump...

the sand there was way different... it was just like powder... at the imperial sand dunes i usually pump my tires up to the max, and still have a problem keeping my front end down... there, i let the air out and was only running like 2 psi and didnt have a problem with my front end coming up at all...

yet another...

it was interesting in that there seemed to be a lot more 2 strokes up there than down at the imperial... a lot of people have switched to the 450s at glamis and what not, but a pretty high percentage of the bikes there were 2 strokes...

getting ready for dinner...

i tell you what- we eat better at the dunes than 99% of america eats at home... between all the food i pound, and all the dr pepper and mt dew, i always put on a few lbs at the dunes...

it rained on us a few times while we were there... normally i like rain at the dunes, but not in this case... the camping area was more dirt than sand, and consequently it became muddy whenever it rained... kind of a pain in the butt!

did have some nice rainbows though

Nice pics. Even though you said not everyone made it, it still looks like you had a pretty good sized group.

How did the rail guys like it up there? Seems like there's plenty of tighter stuff they probably couldn't drive in.

yah, we had 7 rigs come up... we had at least 6 rigs of our "imperial regulars" that didnt come though... we have a big group, and it kinda stinks as our circles are getting so big i have to pack a lunch if i go to the other side...

there are a couple of rigs that always camp with us, but dont go on too many rides or eat with us or anything, so im lobbyig that they make a "sub-circle" off of ours so that we can keep it a little smaller...

anywho...

the guys in the rails liked it... with the EFI they didnt feel the alititude near as much as i did (i didnt want to mess with re-jetting)... and they were able to go and have fun out in the open dune area, as well as they could drive several of the trails... my buddy in the blue sand rail ended up tagging a stump and bent his rim pretty nasty and was losing air quick, but we hurried and got him back to camp and bent it back and he was good to go...

Coral Pink is one of the most scenic places to ride!! That sand is so soft and powdery.... We went the 1st time on our ohtsu radials........ Bad move! In glamis they work great. No good in coral pink quick sand. Fun place for sure. The only drawback is night riding prohibited! We switched quickly to our paddles!!!
