all most every one on a ltz knows of the 400ex air boot mod, its a rather simple mod even better if the air box is removed , could give 2 hp for very little money .
the question i had was what other boot would work ? i happen to have a friend with a 450r ,he just recently replaced his stock setup with an after market one and he gave me his old boot .
it looked as tho it would fit ,not that it would hook up to the Z's air box (dont want to do that any way). when i but the 400 ex boot on ,the length of it was such that the filer that i planed on using was all most a problem to get on and off . the 450's boot
is way shorter , so much the better.

the air box will fit but the front of the box will have to be modded
but it will work( sorry no pic's)

I have heard of the 400ex boot mod but I dont understand what exactly the benefits of it are. How does it increase HP. Elaborate on this mod for those of us who dont know about this boot mod. What all is involve to make this mod work?

Look at the first picture. The "Z" boot is not as straight. All has to do with air velocity. Not sure if it's really 2HP but can't hurt.

its true the boot is only part of the scenario the larger air filter also plays a part .
i dont know if any one has ever done a dyno test on intakes with no filter.but i do know some one that has tired many different ones with the same filter.
the wrong filter can rob power as quick as any thing, changing the Length of an in take can also effect hp .
intakes are a big deal with people spending $200. or more to get the one that gives the best results. i'm not like that ,if i can get out of it cheeper so much the better.
and i did get 2 hp i have the graphs to prove it.

after i get back to a dyno , no doubt one of these boot setups will be for sale .
going on a ride this friday at silver lake at least i'll find out what the butt dyno says about this new boot setup.
O i do have one more boot that was given to me ,its off an 450r 06 i dont have much hope for that one ,looks inferior to the 04 boot. tho the way its shaped it may increase air intake velocity. wish i had an esr set up or even a fci to compare all this to , raced a Z 434 that has a esr, rather surprised me when i won the 300' drags . he did get pasted me by the time we got to 600' but not every time, and that Z will be there as well.
