300ex reving too high

I recently put a 05 300ex motor in my 97 300ex. I've messed with the carb and it still revs very high when started.

Sounds like an exhaust leak around the rubber manifold at the engine. Check that for a leak.

I think you mean intake leak. But it does sound like a lean condition, assuming your throttle cable is adjusted properly.

I found the problem. when I adjusted the idle screw the cable was frayed and did not turn in the carb. thanks

Lol yea. I'm glad someone corrected me. Sometimes my brain thinks one thing and my hands type something completely different.


Glad to see the OP figured it out. Had that problem on my 400ex carb. Had to swap out the idle adjsutment cable for a new one.:)
