When I set the preload on the lowest setting and jack my quad up, there is a space between the top of the shock and the metal retainer that holds the spring in place. Should they be like this? Should there be a third spring in that space? If I put a third spring in that place would that solve the problem w/ my shocks? My problem was they were really easy to bottom, they arent leaking oil though, they were just really easy to bottom out. Does anyone know? Thanx for your help, its really appreciated. Heres a few pics..

You went the wrong direction to make them stiffer! Move that ring all the way down so that it puts a little tention on the top spring.

I know, I wasnt trying to make them stiffer, I was screwing around with them and noticed that when you make them really loose there is a space, is that space normal? Could you put a third spring in this space?

Ya, you would need a spring and crossover spacer.

Is that normal to have that space? Do you think that might solve the problem of them being easy to bottom out?

Yes, its normal for a dual rate shock! No, it won't solve the problem of being too soft. Sounds like you need heavier springs and/or a revalve.

Do springs wear out over time? Maybe they need new springs? How much do new springs cost? Thanx for all your help Jeff.

Ok, cool. How much is a third spring and crossover spacer gonna cost me? I'll have you add that when I send them in to get rebuilt.
