well in fall im getting new tires for the f150 but i was wanting something a little knobby and bigger mainly to make it look a little taller and fill in that gap between the tire and that space under the fender its 2wd (i dont know why that would matter but all the tire places asked me that and said theyd stick with stock size, which is kinda why im posting this) the stock size is 255-65-r17, so can i get a guess on how much bigger i can go without it getting in the way of turning and stuff.

thanks

crank the torsion bars in the front, and you can put 285s on there........

i wouldnt crank the torsion bars i forget why but it does something to the suspension if you wanted to do that they make a kit that should get you an inch or 2 with out having to mess with the turning the torsion bars. as to the tire size im not sure on an f150. i just dont know how much room there is and what size they can fit sorry for not being able to help

Cranking the TB's will cause your front end to be mis-aligned and requires an alignment. Additionally, you would be simply adding pre-load, which will cause it to ride differently. If this is an 04 or newer truck though, it doesn't have TB's, it has C/O's.

What year of truck is this? 04-Present? If so, I'm sure there is someone making some add-on spacers for your stock coilovers.

i've heard that cranking the torsion bars will hurt your u-joints in the rear and the cv joints up front.

well i dont plan on cranking any bars or getting it lifted or anything (not yet anyway) i was mainly wanting suggestions on sizes cause i have no idea what the numbers are, the only one i get is r17 which is the rim size.

I have an 04' f150 supercrew like what you have listed in your sig. I too thought the wheel wells looks akward with those little tires. I went with some 31" BFG ALT and that worked relly well. They look agressive and get great tractiona nd also dont hum on the highway. I will take some pics on my lunchbreak and post em n here so you can look. ONly bad thing is for a 17" rim the tires cost 189 a peice about a year ago

thanks for replying on the torion bars guys i couldnt remember what it caused. tire size will also depend on if its 2x4 or 4x4 i know you said you have a 2x4 because the 2x4 ride alittle lower i beleive. what you can do is go online and get a tire size calculator which will give you you tire size in inches so its alittle easier to read

Just throw some of these on there...

About the torsion bars, CRANK THEM, then go get an alignment, and you will be fine. I have done this to all my trucks and nothing bad has happened. If its a 4x4, stuff some 33's in there! On my old '99 ford I had 33's on it and alls I did was crank the torsion bars and align in, you will be fine to drive it till you can get to the shop.

EDIT: I saw you have a 2wd, go get a leveling kit, I dont know that 2wd's have torsion bars.

As Far as tires go, look into Mickey Thompsons Baja Radial MTZ, Awesome treadlife, traction and not waayy too expensive.

I personally like the Nitto Terra Grapplers on my 24" wheels. Got 6" Fabtech w, and a readylift leveling kit in the front. Rides awesome.

Just so you know, low profile and offroading don't belong in the same sentence together!!!

(sorry for large size)

If your referring to my truck, then OH YES it does, I have already put that truck thru hell and back...a few times. I went mudding the night before that pic was snapped, My truck went from textured brown to shimmering red in a matter of hours! :D Its no street queen my friend!

These are the only "Off road" pic I have...

Nope, was NOT referring to your truck because it appears to be 18's with 35's which is pretty <my> preferred limit. I'm talking about the 20"+++ wheels with 33's and 35's that think that is acceptable for offroading, and when I say offroading, I don't mean little chicken $hit stuff

My rule of thumb:

tire diameter >= 2 x rim diameter

Your Ford is one of the nicer ones that I've seen actually. I helped a friend install the FT 6" on his 03 ext cab F-150. FT's instructions were among the worst that I've seen.

Well since he has an 04 he doesn't have any torsion bars to crank, its Coil overs in the front. You can fit 33x12.5x17's without any rubbing and no lift. With a 2 inch spacer I've heard you can fit 35's but we haven't tried that yet. My buddy ran 33x12.5x17 mickey thompson baja claw radials, they were awesome offroad, but they are a directional tire so you cant really get all the miles out of them as a non directional. He just put on a set of Dick Cepek 33x12.5x17 mud country's. Got them for around $208 a piece. Fills the fenders nicely.

54warrior, nice rig. My buddy has a titan with those exact tires. They're a good all around tire. Have you had any transmission issues with your titan yet? He had one go with only 50,000 miles on it.

Have not had any power/drivetrain issues aside from axle seals leaking. I have 40k on my truck now, but have heard of a few (<5) transmission failures on the three Titan forums that I frequent.

I like these tires because I've gotten nearly 50k out of them on a diff. truck, plus they are more aggressive than a BFG A/T.

Yeah Ive put some on an H1 before. We have to drill holes in the sidewall b/c of some government regulation or something like that.
