I mainly ride at the dunes, which would be a better up grade. A 440 kit or a cam and hi compression piston. also is a rev limiter worth getting? I don't want to loose any bottem end. I am a recreation rider and don't race but want more power. I have a W/B E-Series slip-on and a K&N filter.
Any suggestions would be helpful.
Thanks

All of the above will be best. A 440 kit alone makes little difference, perhaps more bottom end thrust. Add the cam amd hi-comp piston and you've boosted power everywhen in the power band.

Still if you are doing one or the other... I would go with a high compression piston and cam combo. I think you will see more power there than with just adding an 89mm piston.

Is the rev limiter worth the money.

I think the rev limiter is worth the money if you have the other stuff done. cam head porting, big bore, carb, but I didn't noticec a difference when my bike was stock.

If u do a cam it will raise your peak HP to a higher RPM. But that rpm is still less than the factory revlimiter. So whats the point of over revving your bike? It will just wear out quicker. and it doesnt add any HP.

I just did a Cam, piston, and valve springs, and man what a difference. I had the same setup as you before i did it. As for the 440 i have heard bad things about them pulling the studs out of your base which is deff not a good thing. I would go 416 or 426.

I just had a JE 416 10.8-1 piston, hotcams 2 and porting done. I have a WB CDI and I think it helps. You could go with a stock bore high comp piston and a cam and it would help in the dunes. And save you the price and wait of boring. If you decide to overbore go with a 426. I wish I had.

Are the 416 & 426 kits just a piston and bore or do you also have to change the sleeve?

just piston and bore

Is that the largest overbore you can do in the stock sleeve?

If I bore to a 426 how many more bores will I have left?
If I put a cam and a hi compression piston is a 426 going to make that much more power than a Std bore?
Thanks

You don't really have to worry about how many bores, you can have a new sleeve pressed in for cheap, thats what they do for a 440 kit. If your going to spend the $$$ for a build get as much hp as you can. I speak from just doing a 416 and now wishing I had gone bigger. Good luck

Do the 400EX cylinders have any special coating on them that I will have to get redone when I get it bored. What is a good compression piston to use if I go with the 426?
Thanks
