i just bought a new ltr and was riding it on the track the other day and when i was gearing down for the corners i noticed a wining nose somewhere in the motor. does anyone know what this might be and if it might be serious?

thanks,

Do a search for "whining noise". There are lots of posts on this.

Yup, its tranny whine. Your bike is DOOMED! Just playin. Mine wined for a while back when I bought it in march 06. It went away completely after about 20-25 hours. 2 full seasons beatin the piss out of the thing and no problems and the whine never came back. Ive used Amsoil 20-50 v twin synth since the 3rd oil change. Use a thinner oil if you plan on riding in cold temps.

Use honda 20-50 oil and lucas oil stabilzer to make the whine go away...i have tried a few different brands of oil with no sucess of making the noise go away untill i tried this combo...Some people will also say to add an extra 300ml's in the crankcase fill area

The whine will just go away on its own, no need to run any additives. I thought the same thing, "this sounds horrible" I said. I thought for sure my tranny was on its way out the way it sounded. Then it just stopped and I haven't heard it in over a year. Run whatever good synthetic you want, just change the oil frequently and she'll treat you right.

yeah, i dont know if they all just "go away," but i always put 200mL xtra oil (100mL in crankcase, 100mL in oil tank) and i never get it any more. when i first had it, it was horrible. i have only heard once since then.
