Nice gun. You will like the 308.
How are you going to scope it?

It came with Leupold scope rings, I have a 3x Weaver scope I'm going to put on her and maybe next year get a Leupold scope on her.

The 30-30 is a good brush gun, there are far better rounds for deer hunting. ;)

100 yds is pretty far to run for a heart shot. in my life ive got 2 deer, and both dropped on the spot. i use a .270

I was going to buy a 30/30 Marlin lever action, but I decided to go with an bolt action. I have no pictures but you can go on Kimber's site and look it up!:p

Kimber's are awesome rifels! I was very close to buying one, but I found a Remington model 7 that I liked in a .300 WSM. I've been working on hand loads for it, and man does it shoot nice. Also, if you are looking at Leupold scope, check out the Zeiss Conquest 3x9. It is very close in price to a VX3, actually I believe its a little cheaper, and I love mine!

kimber is a nice gun but when i looked at the rifles they had a sloppy bolt action so that turned me off on them, ill stick with my savage, and a zeiss scope is a great one, i have the 4.5x14-44 on my .308 and it does wonders, one day when i get around to it i will get a nightforce scope and put on it, i like the big scopes and at 56mm u get great sights with that big and good for low light situations

kimbers are really nice guns and hold their value extremely well, but you are right, you pay alot for them. i have many rifles, but two that i really enjoy alot. the short range rifle is my savage .270 model 111. bought it from wal-mart for like $300 and put on some nikon optics for a great shooter out to about 250 yrds. for my field hunts, i use my remington 700 sendero chambered in .300 Rem. Ultra Mag. With my Simmons Aetec zeroed in at 500 yrds, theres not many fields in GA that i cant cover completely

There sure is. So far I've killed more deer with a Chevrolet 4x4 than anything else I've used.

Yep, we use a .44 lever as a brush gun.

Not a great rifle if your shooting 100-150+ yards IMO.

I've actually taken 2 deer with my .223 Bushmaster using 55gr Winchester Super-X soft points. The rifle is an A3 style AR-15 (which means you can remove the carry handle) and I topped it with a 3x9x40 Bushnell Banner scope.

Surprisingly, the deer dropped right on the spot. Never even took a step.

I love Kimber's, I have a few of their .22s. Personally their my favorit rifle out there. They are dead on accurate and a blast to shoot, plus their well made. Lets just say I got one hell of a deal on her too. I was close to buying a Ruger M77 in 7mm but I went with the Kimber.

I shoot deer with a Remington model 700 in .25-06......definitely does the trick.

Nice gun! ;)

I've taken down quite a few deer years ago with my Rem 700 .243 - its all in your placement of the shot

i use a weatherby 7mm with a leupold VX3 scope. Gets the job done very well. IMO get a swarovsky or zeiss scope.
