I've had my 250R for sale for a while now with no major hits locally or online. I've dropped the price to $2800 and still with no luck.

Details and more pictures are here:

that is actually nice looking. sadly 250R's just dont hold their value like they use too. especially when they are stock framed.

you could always try ebay, and provide some sort of shipping guestimate.

why did u go with a yfz front end? seems a bit odd.

Much better brakes, aluminum knuckles, modern components.

The YFZ parts all seemed to be cheaper when I was looking.

The brutal answer is YES

1. It's an 86 - dime a dozen in better shape or just the same.
2. You probably only paid $2800ish which was too much in the first place (Yes I saw the previous owners asking price)
3.It's michigan which has the worst economy in the entire country right now.
4. It's pretty stock which isn't appealing and the parts that are on it, could be picked up real cheap.
5. It's got 400ex plastic - that in and of itsself isn't a big deal but if someone wants 250R plastic they'll have to pony up $3-800

Sorry for the harsh reality but I highly doubt you'll get more than $2000 unless you are very patient and wait for someone who just wants it and doesn't care about price, but that could be a year or more.

in the right location i dont think 2800 is too high for that. but i know nothing of the economy or anything about where u live. again offering shipping and posting it in an auction may be the best way to get top dollar.

i think that's a good price. people have a million opinions about 250r prices. just the market has went 4 strokes but you know that. but i wouldn't go any lower than 2000. ebay is always a good bet for trying to sell r stuff. but if someone is far from your location shipping is high for something like that. i think if that was me i would part it out. because it has all different parts.:)

If I put most of the stock parts back on what would it be worth?

Thanks for the advice so far. I'm moving soon and want to get back down to one quad.

I wouldn't put all the stock parts back on it. Just make sure everything is 250R specific (ie plastic, spindles, etc). People tend to get turned away if it has parts on it that weren't specific to the machine, like saying it has 400ex plastic, YFZ spindles, etc. Although it may be an "upgrade", some people tend to thing it had to be customized to install it and there's no going back. Know what I mean?

In the past I've seen junked out 250R's sell for $1500 to $1800, so $2500 for yours is definitely not out of the question. The problem is that Michigan's economy absolutely sucks right now. It's ever worse if you're trying to sell a house (like me). It's definitely a buyer's market in Michigan right now.

I just lost my arse on a 1998 Banshee with a fresh 370 stroker motor. I let it go for a whopping $1800 after spending $1K on just the parts for the rebuild.

Market is soft. Good luck to you.

if you have 250r plastics i would put them back on. at first glance the 400ex plastics with 450r nose makes the quad look like a 300ex.. and the darker colors are hiding alot of the hotness of the quad.

I've def. sold acouple quads and its a strange market.

This site, craigslist.com, and then ebay have been good to me for the most part. Like said above expect to have to ship it. find a shipping company and get ready to give quotes (buyers can be lazy and think shipping is a pain and move on. but if you have it all worked out for them it makes it that much easier for them.

Also try no price and "Make me an offer" and go from there..
