I just bought a 400ex that has a blown engine. I’m putting a 440 kit into it and now I see that it has an aftermarket cam in it. Hot Cams does not recommend using the stage one cam with a 440 kit. I can’t tell what stage cam this is however.

Do the hot cams have any kind of identification on them as to what stage they are?

Thanks!!

The cam should be marked. It won't say "stage 1" but there will be a product code that identifies it.

could call up hotcams directly and ask.... that'd be my next step.

I have a Hot Cams stage 1 sitting here....

On the base of the lobe farthest from the sporcket has this stamped on it:

HCDC
N0:07 (or it could be NO:07)

Thanks again for the help! The only marking mine has is “EHR 8” that is engraved in the end of the cam, lobe opposite the gear. It is a Hot Cams cam though as it is cast into the end of the gear. I have emailed Hot Cams too, hopefully they can help?

Thanks again
