ive got a race comming up in october and was looking to rebuiild my 400ex for some more power, right now its got a JE 10.8:1 87mm piston (416) hot cam stage 1, GT Thunder HD Headstuds and WB E2 Slip on, i was thinking of bumping it up to a 426 with 13:1 piston and a stage 3 hotcam, ive got about $400-$500 to put in just the motor. this 416 kit runs really strong, all my friends have the 416 kit and mine still walks past them. i was looking on JE's website and found a 430cc kit. it was offerd in a 12:1 kit. not much more displacement but look at the weight difference. the 426 13:1 comp piston weights 318g the 430cc 12:1 kit weight only 267g thats not much more than stock at 263g.more displacement, little less compression but weight a *****load less. any advice on this matter? also if i run the 430cc kit i have to buy the big bore sleeve

you dont need a new sleeve untill you do the 440 bore

If you can run race gas go as high compression as you want but just don't go to a 440 the 416 and 426 will run just as good if not better then a 440
