Hey this is my first time posting so work with me plz ill answer ne thing i can. I have an 02 400ex and im looking to have the motor built by trinity racing here in so. cal. i was thinking of going with the 460 stroker kit however im worried about heating issues. Trinity said there would be no issues. I ride in 100+ degree wether and frequent dumont sand dunes and local desert around me. So my question is will i have overheating issuess with the upgrades or not? Is there ne thing to improve cooling besides air fins/scoops?

first off, welcome to the site!

440 will be the cheapest way to go though the 460 will be a nicer choice but also more expensive. you gotta decide what's right for your needs.

as for cooling, take a look around and do a search on it... the few major ways to keep your motor cool are gonna be air scoops, a larger oil cooler, possibly even a larger oil tank.

most importantly you gotta have your jetting dead on. lean jetting will also contribute to heat issues. if you are having your motor built by trinity you may want to ask them on the jetting guidance for where you ride. they'll give you a very good idea of where it needs to be.

good luck on your build!:macho

I've got a 460 stroker. I do have a larger oil tank, but I do not see any signs of over heating. My 460 is sweet... tons of power

thanks for the info i will check into the cooling options because i def. don't want heating issues. another question i know its not a 450 but how do the 440 and the 460 kits hang with the newer 450's in the dunes or just in general

My 440 makes 42hp I can hang with a stock 450 anywhere.
