If I put a 440 kit on would I have to run Race Gas? And how much power will it get?
Thanks

the race gas question depends on the compression piston you get,,,anything above 11.1 will need race gas,,I don't know much abou the 440 kit but some of the guys out here that have them will respond I'm sure,,,and yes it probably would add plenty of power,,,but consider getting a wilder cam to go with it for some real stump pullin torque....good luck...:D

No, you wont have to run race gas if you use an 11:1 compression piston. It will run fine on 94 to 97 octane pump gas. As far as power, the low end increase is awesome. Some serious chugging power take off in 3rd gear easily.:D

That all depends on what compression piston you put in. I think anything over 11:1 You have to run race gas. I am running 10.5:1 that way if I am out trail riding I can use pump gas. As far as power out of a 440, you will love it! It gives it so much more bottom end lugging power. Other people will try to talk you into a 416 kit, which is fine if you are raceing. If you are into trail riding and hill climbing the 440 is the way to go! ;)

ok i have a question about this big bore stuff, i have heard people say that the higher the cc's are the less reliable the engine is is this true or are there some things i need to learn lol

Yes i would agree the big bore kits are definately not as reliable as stock, If you only add a big bore kit they run hotter and have more compression, so yes they are a little harder on the rest of the components. But a big bore can be made as reliable as stock its just gonna cost ya alot more money to do it, you would need a better rod, better valves and springs , rockers, better cooling system etc.:D

which would be better for loose coal hills the 440 or the 416

Any engine work will reduce the reliabity over a stock engine. Just change your oil maybe a little more often and run a good oil. An over sized oil rez is a good idea to help cooling. I have not heard of a 440 going bad. Just do what you can to keep it cool and use some common sence. :)

well said.i run race gas in mine,(sometimes only a 50/50 mix) to play it safe but only went with the 10.5:1 compression because i do alot of trail riding and have to gas up at a pump somewhere in my travels.i was told by a few big companies(white bros, wiseco, lrd)that if i'm running 10.5:1 or over they would recommend race gas.

I have been running a 50/50 mix myself. Except when I am racing then it is all race gas. It seems to run better and have quicker throttle response. But like you said I went with the 10.5:1 because of the having to run pump gas on the trail.
