to lean or to rich???

my 39 fcr is almost impossible to start when its cold , why? 400ex

i would say bump up the pilot jet. shouldnt have any problems after that.i could have sworn that i heard somewhere on here about 50 or 52 pilot jet workin good. but i could be wrong. but it does sound like pilot jet.

does it help if u pump the throttle? If it does i would try a biger pilot jet. I dont think its lean. If it was wouldnt it backfire after letting off the gas when riding. Im not that great with the whole jetting thing but maybe i helped.
