i have a yfz kicker with this what is its purpose? its having issues starting could this cause it not to start?

it has a small crack where the wires go in. the throttle cable was tight against it.

i believe that is the condenser. Not sure what it does though.

yeah the only place i could find this was on the 450r not on the yamaha's microfiche. so i was hoping someone here knew what it did.

That is what the 04-05 kickers use. Its just like having a battery so your lights don't dim when your not on the throttle.

Sort of like a cap on sound systems... I cant think if the name that I'm looking for. But that would not effect starting since all it does is store power once the machine is on. You could even unplug that and it will still work.

No you cant unlpug it and it COULD cause it not to start, because a YFZ has a DC CDI there for it needs a DC power source to operate. After AC power goes into the rectifier from your stator
(changing AC to DC) it gets stored in the capacitor and then sent to your CDI to power your Coil, creating a spark.

I know they have talked about this same thing at yfztech.com..... There is bigger ones that can be used. I dont ride a YFZ but I know some of the cats at the Tech and they have talked about this. Check it out.
