Hey all, this is my first post on here and let me say that I love this site. I have ridden before, but am not an "experienced" rider. I just like to go out and have some fun, and be smart about it.

Anyways, I've been looking at getting an Outlaw, my only question is which one to get?? I can get a decent deal on an 07 525 LE but was wondering if I should just wait until the 08's come out? Also, how do you the new 450's will do against the other quads in that class?

I know I didn't supply a lot of info, but if you have any questions for me just ask. Thanks and again, I love the site.

Welcome to the site!!!
You should prolly tell us what style of riding you are going to do the most and then we could prolly give better advice:devil: I personaly have the 525 IRS and love it.If I was going to ride more MX then I would certainly take the 450 mxr.Diffrent bikes for diffrent styles of riding .

I'll probably be riding mostly trails, but will also ride dunes and drag race every now and then, so pretty much everything, lol. I used to ride a buddy's Predator whenever we'd go out, so I know what rough riding in the trails feels like, lol. I think I'd like to go with a solid axle rear, but am kind of undecided on the 450 or 525. But then again, the prices on the 07 models will probably we cheap here in the next month or so.

Same boat here...but am leaning towards the IRS.

I just signed up at that predatorforums.com and I'm on that new outlawcentral.com too.

Right now in my garage i have a 06 pred 500 an 07 pred 500 and a 07 outlaw 525 irs and a 800 4x4.needless to say the only bike I ride is the 525 irs.IT just handles realy well and is an all around good riding machine.I recomend it to anyone whose looking at the 525's.Anyway you will not be disapointed no matter wich machine you choose:devil:

The '08 450MXR availability is going to be pretty limited. There are only going to be 700 to 900 the first year. And unless I was racing competitively in a class that was limited to 450 cc I would get the 525S over the 450MXR if I wanted the straight axle. The 450mxr comes stock with 18" rear tires and since you like trail riding that is not the best choice of tire size on rough trails.

I also love my 525 IRS. The IRS on the trails and dunes is great.

Right now I don't ever see me going back to a solid axle just way to rough riding. I can ride forever on the 525 and not be sore, after a weekend at the dunes on the Predator I was beat.

So the IRS works great in the dunes? I won't be riding in the dunes very often, mainly trails and some drag racing here and there. The solid axle doesn't really bother me that much as I've ridden my friends' YFZ450, R450, and KFX450's. So the Outlaw 450 probably wouldnt' be the best choice for me then huh?

Oh yes it works perfect. I am mainly a trail rider but goto the dunes a few times every year. Mine is still stock except for a 15 tooth front sprocket. I can hang with any quad on the drag strip even if they have pipes. There is always a couple of machines that are just wicked fast that youll never outrun.

Here is a link to some pictures we took at the dunes this weekend. The IRS jumps dang nice.

ewatts2003, the 525 IRS works GREAT in the dunes and is an amazing trail quad. I picked up a set of Haulers for the rear and a single fin front tire and I could not be happier with it in the dunes. I went with rims for my sand tires that were an inch wider so the Outlaw sits at close to 50" with the sand tires/rims on. It is very fast across the sand and has no trouble pulling the 15t front sprocket (with the stock motor). I could hang with skinny guys on YFZ's, LTR's, and whatever else we had riding in our group, and I weigh in at 250lbs. If you are not planning to race MX, you may as well go with the 525 and get all of the c.c.'s you can!

As far as the handling, I do not feel it is too much different from an SRA quad but much softer in the small bumps in the sand (do not feel them) and there is no worry about ruts in the woods.

Good luck with the decision!

i have a yfz450 and i have ridden predators and the 525 irs. and i cant wait to get a new 525 irs, in the rough stuff you can ride alot faster than a solid axle. and for the dunes tons of power and the best ride. and im more of a yamaha guy and i hated the pedator, but polaris nailed it with the 525 irs.

The 15t allows it to run higher top speed which is good for the dunes. You will sacrifice a little torque at the lower RPS but the 525 motor doesn't care. It has so much torque and power that it pulls that gear just fine in the power robbing sand!

It does make it a bit high geared in 1st but you get used to it after a couple of hours. The best part it makes it very long legged between gears, never have to shift much when running tight trails it has so much torque it will pull right through anything.

If you can get a good deal on an '07 irs I'd take it in a second, for your type of riding you can't beat it! I use mine for trails and dunes, mostly dunes because I live 30 miles from St. Anthony, and it's awesome everywhere!

I'm going to try that 15 tooth sprocket. I was a little concerned with it because some of the sand we ride is sooo steep, but if you say it works I'll do it!!:D

you do know they make a 525 straight axle now right????

if you like straight axle but want 525cc's just get the straight axle version.
