He's getting the hang of this pretty good. Only a couple of months on this bike and his riding skills have stepped up tremendously. Machinery can definitely help ones confidence. He has no problems shifting through the gears but he doesn't quite understand he needs down shift into 3rd so the bike won't lug in some of the corners. I even sat him on my bike with me on the back and he can start off in 1st and shift through the gears using the clutch. Pretty good for a 6yr old :ThumbsUp.gif

The bike is completely stock. I love the grunt that the pipe gives it and it handles just as good as it sounds. I lowered the rear end down a bit b/c it was jacked up from the factory. His shifting is good but he just doesn't understand the concept of downshifting. He's rounding all those turns in 4th gear. I'm sure your boys will love this bike just as mine does.

That motor has a very nice grunt to it.
What size motor is it 70/90/125?

It's a 125. I love the way his bike sounds. It sounds alot better in person.

Rob, my little man is having trouble with shifting. His little foot is too small, not strong enough yet. He actually rode his other quad tonight ,after riding the 125 for a little while. It is going to take some time ,he understands the rev -shift ,but he is fighting with the shifter . I am thinking about having a shop fab up a heel shifter to the toe shifter . That may help the little foot out. I kinda made him mad when i told him one day he would be able to do it,he was determined to get to the green lite so he could crank it. little  We will fix it for him .Greg

My son had the same problem. That transmission is VERY tite out of the box. Jam couldn't shift up or down. I simply put it in 4th for him and he rode it like that. I even had problems trying to shift it. The more time we put on the motor, the easier it got to shift. Now you see he shifts it with no problems whatsoever. Even after he shuts it off he can downshift from 4th to Neutral to start the bike back up. Also, check the throttle. Jams was very tite and I had to cut his spring quite a bit and now it's almost a loose as the Apex throttle. Hope this helps and if you have any more questions don't hesitate to ask ;) . Glad Josh got the bike! Tell him the tranny will loosen up the more he rides it.

The allen bolt slides right out of the shock and the mount for the lower a arm. As far as the height, I raised the front a tad and lowered his rear quite a bit. He loves to jump his bike as you can see and he's hit a jump alot bigger than the one in the pic and the bike didn't bottom out. He's also only about 40-45 pds.

As far as the carb spring goes... that's where it is. You'll have to unscrew the throttle out of the top of the carb and pull the needle and spring out. Don't cut too much! Only cut maybe 3-4 coils at a time and replace it to see if it's enough or not. Also, when replacing the carb make sure that the top of the carb (where the throttle cable is inserted) is not binding against the bottom of the gas tank. This can cause alot of drag thus making the throttle alot stiffer than it is originally.

Man, that's amazing. My prayers go out to you and your family and hope that he stays strong and healthy. My kids (daughter 15 and son 6) are my hearts. They (along with the wife) are the reason I wake up every morning and do what I do for my job. It does my heart great to see your kids enjoying themselves and their faces filled with happiness. ;)

LOL, The other side broke off on Jams. Even with that, that's minor. I'll probably get some AC's as he grows into the bike.

You guys don't even need to waste your time with the throttle spring, it is not nearly enough to make the throttle anywhere near easy to pull. I found a TRX90 throttle on ebay and any other TRX throttle will work, and it is night and day. You keep the aluminum spacer that was on the old throttle and ditch the elbow and you are in business. My daughter is 10 and ahe could barely push the stocker without wearing her out. The AC's work great also. They are vast improvement over the stockers. As always, they are AC so they require a little bending and hammering to fit correctly.

You must not have clipped enough. When I clipped the one here it made the throttle almost 100percent better. Now he can ride all day with no thumb problems. Like I said earlier, almost as easy as the Apex.

That's cool. The issue with the throttle being too stiff, at least for the throttle on out Xtreme is not the carb spring, but the throttle itself. Instead of pulling the cable around a cam, you pull the cable straight, which is what makes it so hard. The 90 degree turn that the cable makes doesn't help either.

Nice! They're riding those bikes pretty hard. There's not a clean spot on either of those bikes or the boys for that matter (lol). Now that he's putting time on the motor is the tranny beginning to loosen up a bit?

Hey Greg,
The bike looks great, I really like the blue. We have been tinkering with these machines for almost a year now and there has been a learning curve. Although its not the best quality product out there it is the best bang for your buck and offers a good foundation. If you want a quick and easy suspension upgrade I have a cure. Its using fox floats on the front and rear. We have done this mod to several bikes now and its a simple bolt on installation with no mods to the chassis or having to purchase Arms. It raises the front end up for that much needed ground clearance and offers more travel. If your interested just contact me.
Thanks
Glenn

Sounds great! Nice talking to you and let me know when your ready. I will post a picture of my sons Ty as soon as we get it finished. We are fitting it with a set of nerfs and some bars and handguards right now.
Thanks
Glenn
