With the specs out and having a race weight of 357LBS minus gas, is the KTM now the lightest? I know the DS450 has a dry weight of 345 and the YFZ is dry at 350, but what would they weigh with all there fluids in minus gas like the KTM? I know these companies when they say dry weight, there is not a single drop of any fluid at all on the quad.

I think it would be pretty easy to knock 10 lbs. of the xc with a motox tire package, maybe a lightweight swing arm and axle.It is really light.you can change the attitude of the bike in the air very easily.

a stock YFZ450 with one gal of gas weights about 478 lbs and till the DS450 hit the show room floor we will not know.

He obviously meant to type 378, but considering that the 3 is directly beside the 4 on the keyboard, it was obviously a typing error. Use some common sense.

not dry just without gas. this would make it the lightest. till some one weights a DS450 on the showroom floor.

Are you positive that's not the dry weight? That would be sweet!

The frame is made out of Chromoly, which is lighter than steel.

chromoly is steel. it is one of the highest grades of steel alloy available. able to tubed alot thinner and stronger and lighter than basic frame steel

I read somewhere 357 dry weight (again no fuel but oil, ect.). For a 525 (510cc) that is DAMN light.

When Teixeira Racing built his 525 (576cc actually) on a Arens Honda 250R frame we weighed it wet (4.5 gals appx.) and I thought it weighted in at 425 lbs. That is desert trim mind you. Still lighter than a Raptor or DS650. He did a Glamis photoshoot and minus skids, dez tires/wheels and a gal of gas it was down to somewhere between 335-340 lbs IIRC.

but 7pounds compared to the yfz... the reverse lever and gears and all the components probly equal to 7 pounds so the ktm is probly the lightest or 2nd lightest

ATVsport did do that, but all only had one gal of gas, so they were all even. The KTM was the lightest with the LTR450 being the heaviest.

Don't forget dry weight usually does not include the battery....
