2007 GNCC series Round #9-Mountain Ridge - Somerset, PA-race updates

The track is very rocky, high speed with lots of rocks and a little mud thrown in. One section of rocks is causing alot of problems for the morning racers. Traci Cecco is currently stuck in a huge bottleneck. Angel Atwell is in the lead.

Josh Creamer has shown up with his Kawi and will race in the afternoon.

Cell phone reception is shotty so updates will come in slowly today.

just got off the phone with ken robey. he finished 2nd in the lites class and 9th overall. dudding was broke with a hole in his motor? kevin was on the v-force and running 2nd until he got a flat. mike shelly finished 2nd behind robb brown? mike benson broke

Congratulations to Bithell....kevin just told me that houston, bithell, and pickens crashed off the start and bithell got his bike started just before proam started and he was in first a mile before the finish. he rode his butt off!!! they said he never let of the throttle going through the rock sections. good job!

Thank you so much for mentioning Chris' awesome ride!!! I may be partial, but I think is was amazing for him to come from last off the start on an unbelievably rough and rocky track, only to battle thru some truely great riders... (at the young age of 19).... he worked his way up to FIRST PLACE by the beginning of the last lap! Only to battle back and fourth with his buddy Chris (Borich)!!! I know he wants the MIDDLE spot on the podium, but YEEHAW, WHAT An AMAZING RIDE!!!!! GO CHRIS BITHELL! ;)

That is a sweet picture pappy:macho I was in 2nd until the last little bit I ran out of gas and had to borrow some from someone. It was still my best finish of the year with a 32nd overall and 3rd in College-A.

nice finish. Never realize how fast you were. I was there i finished 15th in your class. I needed to stop for goggles/gloves, all that good stuff. Still, the track was fun. Never saw rocks that big in my life.

Thanks, This is my first year racing the nationals as I am only 16 and I just keep doing better as the season goes on. I started out in College-B and then got moved up to College-A and it made me step it up even more.

Well, I had hoped to race at Somerset, but had to spectate instead since I am still healing. It was a great day, lots of fun! I have ridden at this track before, so I wondered how everyone would like the rocks! I spoke briefly with William Yokley, great guy! I then showed his sponser, Army National guard, how to do 20 push-ups even though I have 9 broken bones healing! :D I picked a good part of the track to watch some action. Walked through the parking lot to the backside. The track came through an area, out of the woods then down a hill about 200 yards later. Not before winding around some trees taking the riders first over a nice braking bump, around the trees then to a straight-away. Several riders had some probs there. One rider, number 4 on his plate, Chris Jenks? The bolt broke off his rear shock linkage. I helped push him off the track. That is the upside down quad in the pic below. Another guy, last in these pics had his chain break here. But enough of my yakking! Great day, great bunch of people! :cool:
