Engine Rebuild or something else?

I have never rebuilt my 250x engine, nothing is wrong with it just it is going on 20 years without a rebuild so my question is should I rebuild it or just buy a piston or a hotcam?

If there's nothing wrong keep riding it. Checking the compression wouldn't hurt though. If it's shifting fine, not smoking, making knocking sounds or other death noises it's probably okay. I said probably.:p

When I rev it in nerturl(sp) it blows a little black smoke out of the exhaust. This means its rich right?

Like Aceman said, checking the compression will let you know the condition of your engine.. other than that.. if everything sounds ok just keep the oil changed and keep up on all the other little things like cleaning your airfilter and such and you'll be good for another 20 years :eek2: haha

thanks everyone I guess I will wait for my engine to blow till I rebuild it. 20 years is pretty good without a rebuild.
