Has anyone run wider rear tires on their mini?

I am sure the 90s can handle something wider, but have you seen a 50 or a 70 with a wider rear tire?

It may be possible to have the DRRs come with a different rear tire instead of the stock throw aways...

Would a rear 18x9.5 -8 tire work? If it was more of an MX tread pattern or would it hurt the performance?

It may may the bike hook up and be more stable?

Any thoughts or experience with this?

It would be best if it was manufactured by Duro or Kenda.

I like the Kenda Klaws
533 Rear 20x6-10 4PR
532 Front 18x10.5-8 4PR

They are directional so that can be changed for track conditions.

I guess Maxxis a little tougher to work with, but yes they have the Maxxis Cross tire out now..

I did find a copy of the Snow Hog on the Kenda site called the Polar Trac, but it is only in a 16" tire...So we may try to import our DRRs with these tires if possible....It will be a nice upgrade if there isn't any additional charges for the change

Last year on Andy's 50, we ran a Maxxis 18 9.5 that was stock on all the E-Ton 90's and it worked very well.

(An E-Ton dealer was the only place we could find them)

Maxxis does have one out now that is similiar, that a few people are running up this way and seem to like them.

So the 50 did well with the wider tire then?

I guess we could give them a try,.....Nobody runs the stock tires anyway....

Apex comes with the Snow Hog type stock, why not DRR?? They are trying to keep up with them aren't they? We have used our stock Duro's from the Pred. 90 once for a muddy race and they worked fine but normally we run the 18" Snow Hogs and so do almost all the others we run against. That is my vote...Snow Hog size and type or don't waste their time.

Apex is more $$$

It needs to be tires that can be sourced in Tawain

So leave the stock tires on and don't try to upgrade?

18-9.5 x8 would be good on the 70cc and 90cc but a bit large on the 50cc for stock limited, I think. it will require a wider wheel which will weigh more than the 50cc will benefit from extra traction

I think you will see these Duro tires as a stock option in the near future ...along with there MX front tire

Nice upgrade if it happens!!

The Maxxis Cross tires are not an option at this point.....

The Duro set up will most likely be the upgrade in the future

At least the stock rear tire will be useful and not a throw away

Nothing is set in stone ...just looking for ways to improve the value of these minis w/o raising cost

I retract my previous statement about wasting time then. It looks like the Duro is a decent tire. The Kenda however is a snowblower tire not for high speed use. It would be nice to see the Duro come stock.

We run a turf tamer style tire on one of our 90cc and it work really well. Our rider said the tire didnt slide as good in corners as the hogs and we didnt see any diffrence off the line next to our other machine with the wider tires so we stuck with the hogs.
On a very deep loomy track wider is better only to keep from getting stuck as much.
