With my experience with Trucks you usually put the engine in Neutral and engage or disengage low to high.

i dont know about cheap, but ionce had a 94 laredo. It was 4wheel all time, so to put in low, just put trans in nuetral then flip it to low. To get it to do better offroading, i put 31 BFG ALL ($800)Terrains on it and heckettthorne offroad shocks ($550) all around and put 2"inch blocks (free homeade) for a body lift. Another good investment was a grillguard ($100) used and some HELLA lights. Those are a neccessity.

Now this jeep wasnt the best thing out there, but i could respectively go on most trails with my buddies who had huge lifts on their CJ's and axle work and better suspension mods. I was happy for the weekend warrior. Dont know if this helps you or not. It also helped that i had 318ci V8

whatever you do, do NOT put blocks in to lift it, if you need lift that bad, you can usually do shackle flips, or go to a junk yard and find a decent set of 1 ton leaf springs, and it will lift it decently with a lil bit work..when you lift with block, and the bod rolls, the block will movee with the body, and can fall offf, not only that, but you can da,age alot of stuff that way.......

grand cherokees do not have leaf springs they have coil sprins so you must use spacers (2" are about 60$) or you get new springs. you can also use the v8 springs off the front of a v8 grand cherokee and it will lift it about a inch and a half i beleive. go to jeepforum.com or .net cant remember which one and they have some good info by the way i got a 93 grand cherokee with a 4.5 inch lift did damn good off road with only 31's before i took the tires off it

its 29's or 30's with rubbing and 31's with some cutting no more though unless you have a lift again i would sy to go to jeepforums for more info

31s are the best without a lift and yea that includes some cutting but after that its as big as your heart desires and your wallet can handle i had an 89 cherokee loved it those straight sixes are bulletproof if you take care of em right

I'm pretty sure running the different sized tires will put a strain on the drive-train.

But if it is strictly an off road vehicle, I wouldn't worry about it then.

You should weld up the gears if you don't plan on taking it on the road. That will give you a lot more on the trails.

you shouldnt run different size tires it will either tear up the diffs with 1 size on one side and one on the other or it will tear up the center diff and transfer case with one size on the front and one on the back also welding the diffs will serverly hinder turning ability but it will help tremendously on a strictly offroad truck

ya im going to weld the gears. the jeep is strickly 100% offroad. it will NEVER see the road again! do you guys think it will really mess it up if i run the p225 in the front and the p235 in the rear? there still 75 r15s

As long as you have the same size on either the front or back you will alright. alot of truck pullers run bigger tires in the front, and smaller tires in the back..... as long as you are going to be offreoad you will be fine.... just dont put one size on one side, and one size on the other.....

yes truck puller(i assume you mean tracktor pulls) use the smaller tires up front but they are not 4wd you will mess up your center diff or transfer case because when you are in 4wd all the prts need to be moving in the same ratio or it will wear or break parts exactly the reason that the front and rear pinion gears are the same ratio. do not use different size tires or you will be replacing parts from premature wear

ya i just picked up the same size tires for the front. does it matter that there a different a different tred and brand?

no that wont effect anything but handling if you were to drive it on the road but you now so it wont effect anything. if you going to use it offroad alot then i would look at investing some money in some good offroad or all terrain tires in the future street tires are no good in any amount of mud they just spin even with 4wd
