View Full Version : Swapen Swing Arms 88 to 86
Im guessing this is a old question, but what mods are need to swap a 88 swing arm on a 86 frame??

The easyest way is to add the lower rear motor mount to your frame and slap the 88 swingarm in. I run mine with 3 of the 5 possible motor mounts and it holds up fine. I run the front, bottom and lower rear with a 87 frame and 88 swingarm, no jumping though. If your going to be jumping I would run the head mount as well. If you search the other threads on this topic you will find pics.

so your going from the 88 swingarm to the 86? Use the swingarm mount for the rear mount. I didnt know they had 5 mounts. I thought it was the headstay, front, rear, and bottom mounts.
Nope, looking at 88 swinges for a 86 frame

oh ok, your doing the same thing i have on my R. I used the head stay, front motor mounts, and bottom motor mount. I would also say to fabricate a rear mount like the 88-89's. I plan on it but I also plan on jumping mine a good bit.

yea the 86-87 used all 5 of the mounts whereas the 88-89 only used 4 of the 5.
