I have an 88/89 +1 style swingarm with a 39 rear sprocket and 14 front, what length chain should I get? I need one bad, kinda hard to move without one :)

Your chain length would essentially be the same as the 86/87 with the +1 88/89 swingarm that you'll be running. Although, I don't know how much the 14 tooth front sprocket would effect the chain length.

if you dont have a tapered carrier a 96 link is the ticket.if you do you will have to get one and cut it down exact.

tapered bearing carrier? I have a lonestar twin row bearing carrier if that helps any

Take string around it once its set up, measure it and go get it.

WHAT DO YOU DO WITH THE STRING....SEND IT TO ROCKY MOUNTAIN ATV AND ASK FOR A CHAIN THAT LONG ROFLMAO :devil:

I only use that trick when I'm sizing belts for pulleys. When it comes to chain and sprockets, I'll just buy a few links longer and cut it down.

Isn't stock like 98?!? or 96?

I can't remember, but I would shoot over, especially with a +1 swingarm. That +1 will require a few extra links, and the 14/39 gearing is larger than stock, it will require a few extra links as well. Taking 10 links out is just as easy as taking 2 links out.

Just remember the old carpenter's motto. Measure twice, cut once.

And more than one person has had problems because they installed a chain, and went riding immediately, not realizing the chain needs to be broken in and adjusted. You'll probably need to adjust it 4 or 5 times withing the first half hour.

get a 120 and then there wouldnt be any question at all. if ya havent gotten one already. get a motion pro chain breaker. well worth the money.
