400ex rear shock vs z400 rear

whats a better rear shock and also why do people complain about 400ex front shocks when i was bouncing em today at the dealer they seemed fine and even a littlesofter then the z400s so why are they said to be way better?

i think they were talking about the older 400ex's. someone correct me if i'm wrong. and i think people expect a perfect ride. you don't know the first thing about rough, the 06 honda rancher 350 is BRUTAL. i would kill to have 400ex shocks on the 350. thank god i'm getting rid of it

400ex front shocks suck becouse they feel like pogo sticks, they are not adjustable AT ALL, not rebuildable at all and are just out dated and crappy, where as the 05 and newer z400's fronts are fully adjustable and have rezzies for cooling/fading resistance. my z400's rear shock sat way to high, and had NO up travel so i didnt like it much, esp compared to my 450r's rear. from all the times ive rode my friends 400ex, the 400ex stock rear always felt fine to me

well arent they 5-way pre load adjustable but either way coming of a 250ex even 300ex shocks are nice but when i convert to a 400ex at least for a decent while ill probably enjoy the added handling , and shock absorbtion,power, and stability the 400ex has over the 250ex right?

well i went to from a 250ex to the z400, so yea you will LOVE it haha. i mean i only got a 450 instead of building up my z becouse my engine was about to blow and i wanted to get rid of it before it did, other then that i loved it.

just take your time to decide what you really want, a 400ex or a z400 becouse the z has better and smoother power, and better shocks, but the 400ex handles way better.

my buddy has a z i rode it i dont really like it ... and like if igot it hed give me sh** about copying him lol plus im like just as fast as him on my 250 as he is on his z so even tho z's might be faster ill be able to out ride him by far on a 400ex i mean theres a point where just about any quad can hang with any quad in the trails and the 250 ussuly isnt at that point but the rappy 350 is about where it starts to be able to hang with bigger stuff and a 400ex can hang with nearly anything in the woods because u can only go so fast yet on a 250ex ur bassicly riding a limited powered no suspension machine when comparing to bigger stuff lol (sorry for the long typo filled post)

lol. i dont even think it is faster then a 400ex, i think the powers just smoother so it feels faster. personally i like the 400ex's more, i wish i got one instead of the z but the dealer was selling z's for $300 cheaper at the time (my dads all about deals so of course i got the suzuki..)

i really like the 400ex's handling. my friends old 400ex had 450r front shocks and a +2 axle and it felt like it was on rails, no tippyness at all. i only had a +4 axle at the time on my current quad and it still didnt handle as good as his 400, we both had the same sized tires and all.

i belive u got it backwards lol z's are faster but 400ex's feel faster cuz they got torque ... their more diesel with a smaller bore and a larger stroke

400ex's deff dont feel faster at all. a fully piped/pro flow kit 400ex still feels slower then a z400 with a slip on pipe
