I've never actually owned a 2 stroke lol. Just a bunch of 4 stroke quads.. and I've found myself with enough cash to buy another quad and I need some advice.

I want a 250r but I can't find any around here and there's a few Banshee's for sale around the year 2000. Are they a lot faster than the 250 in near stock trim and will I be seeing any problems if I buy one??

The banshee will be faster on drags but on a motocross track the 250R is faster.

im in the same boat with you even tho you can find banshee's that are alot newer than a 250r, the 250r is better for trails and like muffin said better for the tracks becuase banshees like to just be pointed and gunned.

I have a 250r, so its hard for me to not be biased... But i really do think that you would have more fun on a 250r because of how well they are designed how quick they are.

I am a huge fan of the 250r, I want one in the worst way and once I find one worth buying I will have one......... But it sounds like you are implying that Banshees are not designed well - but they were produced for 20 years and virtually unchanged.

My boyfriend has a 99 Banshee. When he got it, it didn't run. He has since put MANY MANY MANY hours into it along with plenty of money. There are very few parts that are stock, and eventually there will be no stock parts. But he absoluetly loves it and wouldn't trade it for anything.

The only thing he really complains about is the fact that there is two of everything and the stock swing arm really sucks, so he was kind of happy when he broke his.

I think you'd be happy with either one of them. They are both nice bikes, but you'll prolly find a better deal on the Banshee since there are so many more of them out there.

I would say to ride both. They are 2 wildly different machines. The banshee is fast and outta control. It doesn't handle that well and it is heavy. The 250r has plenty of power but it seems tame compared to a banshee. It is A LOT lighter and handles 10x better. They are both really fun to ride and you can't go wrong either way

i have a 250r, which im not able to ride yet :( but after its done, i plan on buying another quad and a banshee has crossed my mind. It would be strictly a dune bike, since they seem to really rip hard for the dunes.

I would say get a 250R, and depending on how much money you have you could probly get a nice lonestar or laeger setup. Just be sure its in good shape. I had a 250r that was so awsome but it broke every time i rode it.. it was worn to hell when i got it and i spent more money rebuilding then ever riding the thing. If you can find a nice one though i would deff say a 250R.

if your not racing it, its not a big deal, a 250r and a banshee are both a whole lot of fun to toy around on. 1 thing the banshee has over a 250r, is parts are cheaper and more abundant being as they were only discontinued 2 years ago and not 18

honda quads today are still based off of the 250r. Its legendary and it always will be. I wanted one really bad, but then I found a really good deal on my R so bought new instead.

If its a Banshee you want I have a friend that has one for sale for 4 grand. It has a T-Rex stroker motor with Lectron carbs, G-3 reed valve, K&Ns, and CPI inframe drag pipes. The whole motor piston and all is ceramic/friction/barrier coated for better heat displacement and all of the tranny internals are after market. Chasis is pretty much stock.

The same guy is also selling a 250r with a 330bb for the same price. If you would like the contact info just shoot me a PM.

My opinion:

Dunes = Banshee
Everywhere else = 250r

250r's can make great dune rides too, but he Banshee gets the edge.

this man is correct!

I love my R, its the best in tight trials, and the occasional open feild to just rip open on. I Have ridden a banshee (my uncles) and the power is deff. there but it just isint the same as the R.

I feel the 250r has more power that you can actually put to use then the banshee does. Plus it handles better and looks better (imo about the looks)
