I feel like an idiot asking this question, but i recently traded a 2005 Yamaha YZ250 for a 2005 Honda 400ex quad. This is my first quad. I didnt even know i had reverse on this quad until browsing these forums today at work. I went home and could not find out how to put my 400ex in reverse. Can someone post a pic or explain how. Sorry for such a newb question ;P:mad:

The right front fender mounted on the plastics should have a knob type thing to turn, I think you pull in the clutch twist the know then rev it and release the clutch. Maybe it has to be in neutral idk my friend had an 05

on some wheelers u push a red button on the clutch and pull it in then shift like u was gona put it into 1st gear.. and ur in revers.. or instead of the red button u might have a twist knob on the fender

Thats a couple good guesses but here is how you do it. Have it in first gear, pull the clutch in then twist the knob, then while still having the knob turned all the way to the right push the shifter down one more time. Let out the clutch and your in reverse. Then clutch and upshift one time and your back in first gear.

Really shouldn't be guessing when someone needs to know something.

You should not have posted unless you actually knew. There's plenty of 05' and Newer owners out there that could have given the guy accurate advice.

From Neutral: Turn the reverse knob on the right front fender, pull in clutch, and step down on the gear shift twice. The red light will illuminate indicating the quad is in rear gear.
To shift back to forward gear, pull in the clutch and left the shifter once for 1st and an additional half for neutral. there is a safety feature on the quad that prevents you from starting the quad in reverse. If it stalls in reverse you will have to shift out of it to activate the starter.
