for those that have made gearing changes. what have you found to be the best combo and how do you like it? i'm interested to see what every one has come up with so far, because i am looking into doing a gearing change and would just like to hear what is working and what is not.

I had a 15t on the front but was still always looking for that 6th gear so i now have the 15t front and a 36t rear. It helps out ALOT in topend.

Thanks i was begining to wonder if any one was going to reply to my post.
the reason that i was asking is because i just ordered a pipe and intake kit for it. I knew it needed a gearing change but wasn't sure on what would be my best bet. i want to try and keep the low end the same while adding more topend and wasnt sure which would be the the right one a 15t, 36t, a 34t, or a combination of them.

i do feel like i have to slip my clutch a little more, but you can probably fix that with a little heavier flywheel

ok, I have never done this in the past, I've always kept my quads stock, but I wanted to change the sprokets also. So your saying I can go with a 15T in the front, 36T in the back? What do I do about the chain length, and second what does it feel like with this change. Does it feel stronger or about the same.

Yes you can go with the 15t front and the 36t rear. You dont have to buy a new chain you can use your stock one. I feels like its got way more topend and the gearing is way more spaced out.

Cool, last question so the sprockets I can get that would match up to the KFX would be for a 400ex or TRX450R. Do they just match up perfect and bolt on?

Thanks for the info.

well i went ahead and ordered the 34t sprocket from sprocket specialists. I hope it works well with the Dasa pipe and fuelatv intake kit that i ordered from Fuel ATV. the one thing i'm going to do is wait untill i get all of the parts before i put them on so that way i can see exactly how much of an improvement it makes over stock once i get it tuned to those mods.:blah:
