250ex 5th gear = to 400ex 3rd gear?

im wondering if the top speed off the 250ex is about equal to the 400ex in the top of 3rd?

I have a 300 and my friend has 416.

The top of my 5th is the top of his 4th.

Yeah right that must be one sick feeling 416. My 3rd gear in my 416 will make a 450r wish he had a bigger motor. And 4th will do around 67 mph cause that what gear i get into on an 1/8 mile drag strip

yeah not to call B.S. on that one but I know that on an 1/8 mile track my 400 before it was a 416 ran 68 in 5th and im pretty sure that I didn't gain that much power to run 67 in fourth with STOCK gearing....thats the only thing that may get you up to that kinda speed in fourth, but thats just my $.02. Im just stating the facts... to be honest I haven't been to the track since I got the 416 done but I know boring doesn't add much top speed just gets u to that top speed faster.

No im not saying that I outrun 450s. But when both are in 3rd gear pinned my bumper would be at there footpeg. My brother in law has an 05 w/ a pipe, jetted, no airbox lid, and a 13t front sprocket He gets pissed when he cant get the jump on me in midrange. And Ive owned a 300ex w/ a 330 kit and it wasnt anything to brag about in a race against a 400 or 416.

IDK if the 416 is just a piston, but I have a cam, piston, dual exhasut, and 450 carb. I just dont think a 300 in 5th is the same speed as a 400 in 4th. $th gear is prettymuch topped out on a 400. Cause the motor isnt making enough power to make a noticeable differnece in power. Just top end w/ enough room to top it out.

I doubt your reaching those speeds in 4th gear, but a well built 416 will run with a stock or slightly modded 450 IE pipe and air filter.

anyways year a stock 400ex is in like mid 4th gear with a 250 topped out.

Maybe I should explain.

My 300 is completely stock with the big *** stock tires on it.

My friend has smaller back tires, and a tooth down on the front sprocket.
